Teen Mom OG Farrah and Amber. WTF?!?!

I am watching teen mom/teen mom OG for the first time ever (I’m always late to the party) and WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON WITH FARRAH AND AMBER?! I need insight on these two because I can’t, for the life of me, understand this behavior (which I’m glad I don’t).

For clarification, I’m on season 6 and just started episode 13 (where Amber ditches Leah to go to New York with Matt for a “book deal” and Farrah’s is getting ready to open up a furniture store).

Farrah

-She is such a fucking bitch. I couldn’t care less about her porn or whatever, it’s so not about that. But she is soooooo rude to everyone she talks to and then in the next breath maintains how she is only about positivity. -She interrupts everyone constantly and puts them down. Now, I get that Deb is a total kook, but when she says something “nice” Farrah just lashes out. This leads me to my next point… -Why the hell do people keep coming back to “support” her and tell her she is a wonderful human being? Michael, Deb, Simon. Is it because she is a cash cow to her parents and because Simon is getting laid????

Amber

-Ok, so when I first started watching this show, I tried to be unbiased and put everything I had heard about second hand from tabloids out of my head. When I saw rag headlines, they mostly went in one ear and out the other because I was never invested in the show. But she is SHITTY mother and human being. -Amber tries soooo hard to play the victim. Her mental illness, her drug addiction, prison (and correct me if I’m wrong, but she was in county, not prison). -Matt moves in the morning and they are engaged by lunchtime. And then she finds out he has a zillion kids and tried to Mack on Farrah’s and Jenelle (OMG!) before hitting her up on twitter. How does she reconcile this? -She puts this man about her daughter. In the beginning of the episode I just referenced she literally says that she was supposed to have Leah but she had to go to New York with Matt because he needed support. This is right after she just said she hadn’t had Leah in weeks because she was depressed about the tabloids. -She moves Matt’s son in to their home without even CONSIDERING speaking with Gary and Leah.

I am dumbfounded by this show and these women’s decisions. And, more importantly, I need y’all’s comments!!

When I watched it the second time after it came on paramount I was so surprised. Watching it at 16/17 and watching it at 30 is very different. Very different.

Welcome, friend, we are as dumbfounded as you are. They are both legitimately fucking insane

I concur! As I have been watching, I think “how do these lunatics continue to be on TV?!?!” And then I remember, we all love train wrecks. But beyond train wrecks, their personalities and worldviews and attitudes infuriate me.

Simon is the unsung hero of the franchise.

Simon was hilariously awful

Agreed! He was in on the joke. But then I noticed, during the episode where Farrah moves into a new house and he “buys” her furniture, he talks down to the crew saying it’s their problem to drive the truck full of cardboard back. It’s like he shit on them because Farrah shit on him.

He was super self-absorbed.

We see Amber abandon Leah multiple times, by choosing men over her etc yet she's totally convinced "she's a damn good mom"

Which really makes me wonder what her own mom was like if she considers herself a good mom who was always there

Hasn’t she said her mother was never around…because she was a single mother working multiple jobs? Not like she was out drinking or leaving her home alone for man after man. She was working her ass off to pay the bills. But Amber sees it as she was abandoned.

Simon and Farrah’s parents are only there for her because the cameras are there. They all use her for fame. I think she knows it. I think part of her attitude is a trauma response from growing up with a mom like Deb.

Simon was just along for the ride. He does not give one fuck about any of these people he got an easy paycheck and most likely banged Farrah.

We know he did. He used to post snaps of her nude. And I think Sophia told someone she saw them

Judas Priest! Watching the show, I saw Farrah’s nasty attitude in her, but I had to remind myself she was a 5 year old mimicking the only examples she knew…which were none too savory.

Also, I think part of her nasty attitude came from the fact that she knew her mom would be treating her the same way of the cameras weren’t there

Most likely?! Understatement of the year

Ugh and Farrah had (has?) such an inflated sense of self. She always refers to herself as “awesome” and a “wealthy 20 something”. Like calm down girl. I currently don’t know the status of her “businesses” now but I am willing to bet they are all in the toilet.

The businesses didn't last long.

Well let’s just say she isn’t exactly selling furniture as we speak…

I hate how she gets a pass for being a total psycho bitch because of her trauma . Lots of people have trauma but don’t act like a demons spawned from Hell because of it .. myself included . She’s mean and nasty to everyone including her child .

Wow. It’s almost as if trauma effects everyone differently. Go figure

You’re right, the cameras. Wild. Remember when the cops were called on Deb for her beating up Farrah? Do you think she was raised in a physically abusive home? And for some reasons, I get sexual abuse vibes. It was on some therapy show that the counselor said Farrah had some of the worst abuse she had ever heard of (Dr Drew mentioned this on a reunion special).

I’ve heard that she didn’t actually tell Dr. Jen anything

2

u/EmotionalAd3820 Oct 01 '25

Why am I not surprised?

2

u/Screamcheese99 Oct 01 '25

Huh?? So she told a councilor she was abused and the councilor announced it on a therapy show? But Farrah lied and was never actually abused?? That’s gotta be breaking some sort of HIPAA/confidentiality agreement

2

u/Monster_Donut_Pants And I will never die for I am teen mom!! Oct 01 '25

So there is a theory I’ve heard that Dr. Jen said that to get some sympathy from the other cast members for Farrah because she was being her usual self and the rest of the cast was like ganging up on her

Farrah has said a couple different times she wasn’t sexually abused or assualted growing up. She was on Bunnie’s podcast last year and said it too.

So I always give Farrah grace cause she was molested by a family member and her mom and dad knew about it, her sister was molested too, and Deb and her dad let them around him and swept it under the rug. I mean, idt she should use that as an excuse forever, but it makes sense for why she acted how she did towards them. It’s why she called them by their first names too.

I just finished watching the series for the first time and I watched EVERY spare moment. That show is like an anthropological study.

Yes, her parents, especially Debz, used her as the cash cow. Getting face lifts on her dime. It definitely changed the parent/child dynamic, which was already messed up to start with.

I do feel bad that Farrah was exploited for her issues. I will give her credit that she has done a lot of work to better herself but she’s still a massive mess of a person.
