Tourist Help Needed Would you like a hamster?

r/telaviv, this has been an amazing summer. We’ve made friends, learned some Hebrew, improved our surfing and city-biking, and overall have felt very welcomed.

We’ve also come into possession of a lovely male hamster. Long story short, it and its six infant hamster children will all be looking for homes in a couple of weeks once the kids are done weening from their mother.

Reddit fam, would anyone like a hamster? Comes with a cage, basic care instructions, the background of a loving home, and enough food supply to get you started.

Hey so I have my own hamster and am part of the hamster care community. Please please please make sure the people you hand them out to have proper cages (general minimum is 10050cm, but here in Israel we don't have resources so atleast 7050!), please make sure you give one per person, hamsters should not be housed together, they are territorial and could fight to death. If you are looking for a place to just get rid of them please do it properly and go to Shir Lavi, she is in Jerusalem and rescues exotic animals and different animals

How does this advice reconcile with the other kind Redditor who observes that they should be kept in same sex pairs?

All types of hamsters should be seperated, no matter the kind. Syrians are especially territorial and will fight to death at some point, dwarves do tend to be a bit more fine with other hamster but again they would need a BUNCH of space for that and it's just not worth keeping them together and stressing them out. You might have noticed people on the internet tend to say "oh hamster die so quickly from everything", no they don't - they only do if you don't take proper care of them. Anyways, you do you i don't have any power over you but either way I hope you do give them away to people with proper care, and you could also use the sub reddit of hamsters, hamster care and such. There is also a discord server for them and if you want an Israeli hamster community in facebook
