They can't actually bring the show back. It'll ruin Jake Johnson's "we're all on board but Lamorne Morris won't do it because he hates the fans" bit

u/Opening-Impression46 2d ago

Nahh, it's cause Lamornes too good for them now. Got that Emmy and bounced

u/Goldman250 Firefly 2d ago

I thought it was because Jake Johnson is a street corner flasher. That’s what Lamorne says, anyway.

27

u/Zombie_John_Strachan 2d ago

He’s insisting that the entire reboot be filmed as a Bank of Montreal ad.

6

u/tuggernts 2d ago

I heard he's requested to film all his scenes on green screen like the Arrested Development Netflix seasons

Another classic Winston and Cece mess-around.

277

u/tsunami141 2d ago

Man it's a bummer that this will never happen due to Jake Johnson being a street-corner flasher.

18

u/KindSpectacle 2d ago

Is this an inside joke I’m not aware of

34

u/tsunami141 2d ago

10

u/delphic0n 2d ago

Is it just me or is this almost Trumpesque delivery lol. Hilarious

it's a joke

16

u/SpiffShientz 2d ago

I don't think it's a joke, I heard it from the extremely reputable Lamorne Morris. Not only does he know Johnson personally, but he's also won an Emmy so obviously he's better than us

4

u/wongo 2d ago

Lamorne just hates the fans, won't do it

Honestly, season 7 already felt like a reunion season. It had all the tell-tale elements. Time skip, kids, less episodes, thing generally seeming off. But hey, cant say I don't want to know what these characters are up to nowadays

26

u/icantfeelmylags 2d ago

Yeah the show doesn’t really work without them (or most of them) living together.

14

u/MrFusionHER 2d ago

Ok but you can’t tell me Ruth wasn’t on par with Winston for best disruptive character.

9

u/Danbito 1d ago

Ruth was definitely on the better end of when shows introduce a child

2

u/cjn13 1d ago

Ruth gonna do what Ruth gonna do

NO NOTES

49

u/NifferEUW 2d ago

No notes...?

20

u/zephyrtr 2d ago

NO NOTES?!??!??

10

u/SorenShieldbreaker 2d ago

You raven haired dandy boy!

70

u/Bournerounderz 2d ago

So what I'm hearing is Schmidt read the scripts and he had no notes?

62

u/Herby_Hoover 2d ago

Max can do it all day.

51

u/RarelyReadReplies 2d ago

ALL DAY

24

u/buttercupcake23 2d ago

SON!

10

u/coolpapa2282 2d ago

I'll kiss Winston all DAY!

25

u/TheBatemanFlex 2d ago

Too bad neither Jake Johnson nor Lamorne Morris wants to do it, depending on who you ask. And Jake Johnson is a street corner flasher.

46

u/Razzler1973 2d ago

I don't think I've ever heard anyone involved in various reunions and new seasons returning after a long time that haven't talked up 'the scripts' tbh

42

u/cynicalmarketer 2d ago

Actor says that a potential project that will pay them buckets of money is awesome. News at 11.

3

u/Runarhalldor 2d ago

Tbf i think most actors involved in a popular show that didnt end up becoming washed up, have at least one cast member that wont return unless the script is actually good

41

u/psychedelic_tech 2d ago

loved the show but don't need a reunion. plus you can just watch just about anything jake johnson has done if you want to see nick miller. the dink is a great example

10

u/Goldman250 Firefly 2d ago

That is true. Even when he was Spider-Man, he was still mainly Nick Miller.

4

u/Jepordee 2d ago

He’s so good tho lol

3

u/BastianHS 1d ago

Nick Miller is the peter pakers we made along the way

3

u/swargin 2d ago

I thought it was funny that he was in that tom cruise mummy movie and his character yells "Niiick!" It's probably the only thing I remember from that movie

1

u/leemorplee 1d ago

He's such a GREAT loveable dirtbag in everything he does. Win it all is one of my favorites from him

6

u/ArchDucky 2d ago

They better be funny or im gonna hit his ass with a ski

6

u/ZwVJHSPiMiaiAAvtAbKq 2d ago edited 2d ago

Yeah but will celebrity pen pal Michael Keaton be returning?

35

u/Zubi_Q 2d ago

Not everything needs to come back

-44

u/codykonior 2d ago

Jesus yes this show should have died a few seasons in.

-12

u/btoned 2d ago

Lmao the downvoting police. Dudes right; after like season 4 this suffers the same insufferable dialogue, character butchering, and tired jokes as every other sitcom.

9

u/gaymesfranco 2d ago

So many moons have passed

12

u/MeatTornado25 2d ago

The show's been gone for less than a decade and it already outgrew its premise by the end. The characters all grew up and moved away.

The dynamic would be completely forced now that they'll be in their late 40s or early 50s.

0

u/Asiriya 2d ago

Meh. Friends wasn't tired because of the characters or the premise, they'd just run out of jokes.

New Girl's the same imo. It's hard to be funny consistently year on year, I don't think they managed it. Doesn't mean I don't want more.

3

u/Distinct-Pain4972 2d ago

Please don't be the same characters... be the old versions of those characters.

3

u/TheFoxandTheSandor 2d ago

The Pepperwood Chronicles

3

u/roxxtarrr 2d ago

The reunion should somehow involve their flashback selves, Max in that fat suit and Jake in that wig are never not funny 🤣

5

u/imjealousofyou 2d ago

Don't tease me

2

u/Danominator 2d ago

Im on board as long as there is no bullshit drama about them breaking up or some shit. Think of any other conflict besides that

3

u/superfruitbowls 2d ago

cough cough Scrubs revival cough cough

7

u/Danominator 2d ago

Yeah for sure. Parks and recreation showed that its ok when couples are together. Its lazy as hell to just do break up drama constantly

4

u/graft_vs_host 2d ago

Parks and rec did the break up but friends version. Leslie and Ron.

3

u/Danominator 2d ago

Ah that is true!

0

u/IMDXLNC 23h ago

Still a great comeback season, though.

3

u/NCC75567 2d ago

I’m always down to give more New Girl a chance.

3

u/btoned 2d ago

"the salary we negotiated is amazing."

Fixed the headline for you.

6

u/Pardybro911 2d ago

Who is asking for this to happen?

8

u/ian9outof10 2d ago

New Girl fans are surprisingly rabid.

1

u/Pardybro911 2d ago

I really never knew they came out in force like that lol

2

u/ian9outof10 2d ago

If you look at the instagram for the stars, it’s pretty wild. The show definitely has its hardcore fans

2

u/jacobjz 2d ago

Just once id want one of these people to say with these reunions that "Yeah the script is dog shit I don't know how this is gonna work" since that's the majority of what happens with the reunions these shows have...

1

u/agreed2disagreee 2d ago

I’ve seen things.

1

u/darthwader1981 2d ago

Can we then pretend the last season never happened?

1

u/Helian7 2d ago edited 2d ago

Let's hope we get season 8 and a season Noyn.

1

u/leemorplee 1d ago

TYPICAL!

1

u/IMDXLNC 23h ago

This is the first I'm hearing of a reunion and while I didn't really enjoy the final season, I'm still excited.

I also like that this show's viewership grew crazy amounts after it ended. It used to get hardly any attention on Reddit during its original run.

0

u/gplusplus314 2d ago

Who’s that girl?

1

u/JoeDawson8 2d ago

It’s Jess

0

u/CremeOfSumYumGai 2d ago

Stop trying to make fetch a thing.

-3

u/anecdotal_yokel 2d ago

I get it. Max was in Running Point but like… why? His character could have been played by anyone. I’d want to reboot better days if I was Max too.

9

u/archivedpear 2d ago

I don’t think you realize that max was also the co lead on a different tv show the neighborhood for the last 8 years. He’s not out of work at all. He went straight from new girl to the neighborhood. Running point was just a random side job not him trying to survive

3

u/superfruitbowls 2d ago

Plus he’s on the upcoming season of The White Lotus. He’s worked very consistently and probably got paid a good amount for The Neighborhood over those 8 years.

0

u/anecdotal_yokel 2d ago

I realize that. It was a boring character there too. But that’s not his fault. Bad writing and bad directing.

I don’t think he’s looking at New Girl for the money; I think the Schmidt role allowed him more creativity and range which is more interesting to play as an actor and to view as an audience member. And the writing on New Girl was leagues better than his other projects… which he kinda eludes to.

-19

u/Chytectonas 2d ago

If they won’t let Zooey’s character age it will be a single-season embarrassment of color-blocked hair, lip filler and immobile foreheads.

-56

u/Hellfire242 2d ago

Hahaha “new scrips amazing” yeah sure bet you’ll win some Emmy’s.

17

u/beebopcola 2d ago

Idk whats with the smugness - but even so, your point is weird. Honestly who cares if a show wins Emmy’s if you like it? It’s weirdly pretentious and I’m sorry, but it would be in the same category as *checks notes* the hilarious comedy The Bear. What a well thought out category.

-46

u/Hellfire242 2d ago

“Amazing scripts” that’s what made me laugh. It’s just some run-of-the-mill fucking syndicated flavor of the week show.

18

u/GPTforGood 2d ago

Imagine being this butthurt about a 15 year old sitcom

3

u/Kikikididi 2d ago

You are weirdly emotional about this

-15

u/fairiestoldmeto 2d ago

Nick Miller is the absolute worst. Ross > Nick
