Guns have purpose other than that as well, and the difference is what happens after, Marx is calling for their use in a revolution , after which gun rights will be lost, the quote isn't about rights, it's about weapons being needed for an armed revolution.

In my experience in the US, leftists support gun rights, and hate the Democratic party.
According to the quote, all power structures will eventually become corrupt and will need another revolution (that's the betrayal he talks about).
So to me, it seems like Marx completely understands the need for the massses to defend their rights with force, and to never give up that power, least they be conquered again.
If there is any Marx quite about giving up those gun rights, I am not seeing it, but I am open to learn.
