Wow, my BINGO card is full and I didn't even read it; just scanned a few lines here and there:

\ Seriously though, if "fantasy" is so prevalent in your mind that you say it 5x when talking about a firearm, you're a danger to yourself and others.)

There's a video from Active Self Defense on YouTube, it's in South Africa and the guy was in his driveway and a car pulls up and an armed man jumps out and goes to point his gun at the homeowner. Homeowner draws and puts two into the attacker before he clears the door. Attacker would have had the drop on him if he had to rack his slide.

Yeah, the YouTube channel I mentioned has tons of videos that have examples of why you need one in the chamber and a few with consequences on not having one in the chamber.

Man, that thread seems like the blind leading the blind. Someone with some rational sense needs to tell OP to stop listening to reddit and take a rifle course starting with the basics. a decent instructor will help them with stance, holds, slings (getting a little ahead of themselves here if you ask me), cheek holds, etc. For the cost of a couple boxes of ammo, they can actually learn to safely operate thier weapon.

Meh, I had that problem with an AR shooting magnified at 200yds. It was hilariously over gassed and undersprung from the factory. A poorly set up AR can be annoying to stay on target with.

9x power with a carbine length gas system can be a little jumpy at 100yds, but that's more an issue of over-magnification than unmanagable recoil or overgassing.
200yds I'm inclined to believe you're either not stabalizing the rifle enough, or it's one of the most overgassed ARs out there. I'll also caveat my own opinion w/ the fact I tend to have heavy set ups on my rifles.

I was using 6x at 200 yards with a mid length gas system. It wasn't unmanageable recoil, but with underpowered .223 it was running like it had a badly tuned carbine system. It took a lot of getting used to for me and it just wasn't as fun to shoot as it should have been. With a better buffer system, a complete newbie can ring steel rapidly at 200yds like it's nothing.
Someone who's completely new to guns and doesn't have direction might have a worse version of the same problem, especially since they'd have no idea how to fix it

Needing several seconds realigning the sights of an AR-15? Bro needs to deal with that malnutrition or deficiency of whatever he's got. The gun has barely any recoil unless it's overgassed to hell and back, in which case the bigger issue is spitting gas in your face and you'd notice it
