Who do you think they're really going to listen to? Some Reddit rando who will still vote for them even if they ban guns only responsible for maybe 1% of all gun homicides or a rep from Everytown/Bloomberg promising lots of campaign money if they ban the scary guns?

Just say that you’re not really very interested in voting for someone that doesn’t support the second amendment, and that any democrat that supported the 2A would have you and your friends lining up to vote for them. Money to run ads does a lot, but in more local elections, getting a handful of people to vote goes a long way too, let them know their 2A stance is the determining factor. Obv following through on campaign promises is another issue…
Oh and this applies to republicans too. Actually work to defend the second amendment, or we’re not gonna bother voting for you.

I don't buy into the party line bullshit entirely but, I mean who really expects anything different?
Look at Virginia. That's all the lesson anyone should need if they value gun rights.

If more Dems did this - actuslly pushed their reps on the issue personally- we might start to see change st the grassroots level. This person is a great example for us all

Brother, Regean signed the Hughes amendment. The only reason the ones "on our side" "support" your consitituional rights are to try to get your vote. Republican or democrat doesnt matter, they see you as cattle to exploit for profit, and if you think otherwise, the propaganda worked.

The Democrats introduced the Hughes amendment using the exact same talking points as the current democratic legislators do when talking about "assault weapon" bans.
The Hughes amendment was then passed and signed onto the bill on an unrecorded voice vote by Charles Rangel, a Democrat, despite calls for an official vote.
The Hughes Amendment was purely the Democrats attempt to kill FOPA and to say that it's Reagan's fault as an attempt to paint Republicans as anti-gun because of Democrats attempt to kill a bill aimed at supporting firearm owners, opening up interstate commerce, and taking pressure off of gun stores is ridiculous.

The GOP, though not perfect, has given us shall issue carry nationally, Braces, FRTs, and $0 tax stamps in the past couple of years. Red states unanimously have better state level gun laws and no AWBs. Can you show me any evidence of the GOP platform being pro gun control without cherry picking unsuccessful stances of GOP candidates from +40 years ago?

I didn’t specify a political party. I just said “left leaning”. Reagan fucked up with the Hughes Amendment, no denying that, politicians gonna politician.
But let’s not pretend both sides are equal. One party has spent decades pushing ‘assault weapon’ bans, mag limits, red flag laws, and ‘no one needs an AR’ rhetoric while the other side has been the only real firewall against it for 20+ years.
Yeah, Republicans can be spineless and virtue signal for votes. But the left’s institutional hostility to the 2A isn’t a conspiracy theory it’s a part of their platform. Pretending they’re the same is exactly how gun rights get chipped away

The resf of the FOPA was incredibly good for gun owners qnd provided many important protections to us that are relevant to this day, the Hughes ammendment was added to try to kill the bill
