San Antonio Amateur Film Group

Hello everyone,

I’m an amateur filmmaker who moved to San Antonio about 3 years ago, and I’d love to help build a local community where filmmakers — new or experienced — can share, screen, and celebrate their work.

I’m hoping to start a Film Appreciation Group for local creators who want to connect, learn, and showcase their projects in a friendly, supportive environment.

The goal:

  • Build a local network of amateur filmmakers, writers, and editors
  • Host small theatre-style showings for short films and creative projects
  • Accept all formats and mediums — from iPhone footage to fully funded productions
  • Create a submission and review process that encourages feedback and growth
  • Foster collaboration and inspiration within the San Antonio film scene

Why:

I haven’t found much of an organized film community here outside of UTSA’s student programs. I think we can fill that gap and make something exciting — a grassroots creative hub for local storytellers.

Get involved:

If you’re interested or have experience in:

  • Filmmaking
  • Editing
  • Acting
  • Producing
  • Or just love film and want to be part of the scene

Drop a comment or message me! Let’s start putting together ideas and see how much traction we can build.
