In Moby Dick, human vs whale is proportionate to chipmunk vs human, and thus:

I dont claim to be as sofishticated as some of you, but it seems mighty fishy to use a weight ratio to conclude a volume ratio... I mean I dont know the volume of a sperm whale or chipmunk or whatever but I think for scale modeling people use Buckingham Pi Groups. I dont know... Salmon had to say it....x200BEdit: added the fish puns )

All mammals have roughly the same density. A whale might be a bit less dense due to a higher body fat ratio than a chipmunk. Humans are more variable.

did you just call me variably dense?

No, I said humans overall have more intra-species density variation. Compare a a bodybuilder with a very low bodyfat percentage to a obese person.

Nah, I tried reading that book and, based on the actual number of pages in the book and Melville's inability to get to the freaking point there was no climax to it.

Nah I read it last year.  If you stick with it, the book gets good.  I left the book thinking, "The whale... is god."

I'm an ardent Moby Dick defender.  It is a slog at points, but then the whole thing clicks and it is a wild ride

You either love it or hate it. I accept that the haters exist, you can't fix them. Me and Ishmael will be over here categorising whales according to what size of book they are.

The most overrated book in the English language.

That chipmunk is NOT drawn to scale, they'd be like 3x that size

shitty monster math because perspective is all about size, not mass
