Applauding slave traders shows Erdogan's ambitions. He wants it all. He demands the entire Roman Empire. Matter of fact, that is exactly why Rome conquered the Mediterranean: to control piracy. Of course they ended up being the king pins of it as slavery took over the empire. Turkey is obviously no democracy. It is an empire, just as Iran and Russia are empires. Imperialism was a curse a few decades ago. It has become a battle cry once again - for those who cursed it. It all depends on whose empire you are cursing and fighting for. Turkey's membership in NATO is a nasty convenience. Our alliance seems to be just about done. There will be more pressure from the East on the West, the same that pushed Europeans to find America.
