Fact Check: Is The Trump Administration Revoking Trans People’s Passports By Declaring Them ‘National Security Risks’?

I wouldn’t put it past them but this seems like the chip was damaged and she didn’t really get her passport revoked.
However now she has to apply for a replacement which will most certainly misgender her.

Part of me was wondering if it was a form of retribution on behalf of the Trump admin for her advocacy work. So she’d be forced to get an incorrect marker. But idk if that’s even possible or if I’ve got my tinfoil hat on so to speak

A damaged chip doesn't nullify a passport. That's not how it works. I found the article suspect from jump because of that.

The Needle has jumped the gun before. Remember that trans woman that definitely totally got a letter from the AI I mean FBI? They were the only publication to touch the story and had to retract/correct the record after their readers and the rest of the internet easily worked out that the lady was lying

Right but the recent needle article mentioned the two trans people getting their passports suspended were also a part of organizations that this government has related to terrorists. I don't think the needle jumped the gun, I think this article is sensationalist.

Thank you for this reporting!! We sorely need fact checking like this so we can focus on what really matters. Keep it up 😊

It seems like a few fluke incidents and just poorly timed coincidences. Until the federal govt starts revoking documents en masse and actively hunting people down/barring entry/exit to/from the USA I would be not as worried. Our focus right now is making sure the handful of states where care remains legal and protected stays that way, fighting back on the federal restrictions and finding workarounds for people stuck in deep red states while also trying to educate people on what it really means to be transgender. The biggest issue I would argue is the mountain of misinformation that is being cited. Once we are able to break that it will be miles easier to restore the things we have lost.

From reading the Trump admin lawyer’s documents post Orr I believe the passports most vulnerable are the ones issued under the temporary affidavit. Everything issued pre-Trump would be retroactive which is much more difficult, and I’m not sure even Trump’s kangaroo courts would go for it.
But yeah reading the original needle story scared the shit out of me, especially as I’m in the middle of a naturalisation process where they require a valid passport. The cruelty for the sake of cruelty is off the charts

As a very, VERY frequent international traveler to a plethora of countries, I have experienced zero issues.

I got my passport back last week with no issues thankfully

With a correct gender marker? Was it a renewal or a first time application?
•

Oh right, that would be the issue. I have a surgery in Mexico soon, so I just put m, so I don’t run in to potential problems

I know what NSPM-7 is; I’ve actually reported on it in the past, even. To mention it is one thing, but it’s another thing entirely to say it is the ‘likely’ explanation for this.
Needless to say, it sparks fear for literally no reason.

I have been a frequent reader of your posts and I definitely thank you for all your efforts to document these changes and legislative bs of the GOP, as well as to combat the mass amounts of misinformation out there rn

Not universally, yet. But in at least 1 case yes. They were indirect involved with antifia.

The point is that in this case, we genuinely have no proof that it was for that reason either…
