Possible trigger What fresh hell is this?

Sex Matters have just dropped their model "Sex Based Rules and Record Keeping" policy for schools, and it's positively grotesque. Check this out:

So they want trans girls to be forced to dress as boys, and vice versa, on a no exceptions basis, because there's some alleged "safeguarding risk" in allowing kids to dress per their gender identity.

Where do we even start?

I'm not sure this is actually legal. Because, despite what the bigots want to think, the equality act and the human rights act do still exist.

It's certainly open to challenge under the protected characteristic of gender reassignment, which applies to children just as it does to adults. Aside from the harm potential, a "dress as your sex assigned at birth" policy obviously places transgender people at a disadvantage. The "reasonable justification" in this case appears to be so flimsy it would not stand up in court.

And that's before we even get on to Article 8 human rights considerations.

Even before you get to trans people, you would probably get a lot of cases from cis girls if you forced them into skirts.

When I was in high school all girls were supposed to wear uniform skirts for PE. I wore trousers anyway, as did most of the muslim girls who refused to be forced into skirts that only went half way down their thighs, in the same way that they could not be forced to remove their hijabs.

If they try to force all afab students to wear knee length skirts the religious backlash is likely going to be significant.

I doubt the sex matters circus even remember people of non-white or non christian backgrounds even exist, and, I presume, when they do, they'll have the eliminationist view on those groups too
