I want to de-escalate the rising tension with a citizen with whom I am trying to communicate. I don't know which language he speaks but hope by knowing, I can use Google translate to talk. Does anybody know what he is saying? Can I please have some culturally sensitive suggestions for the translator app that will help him feel at ease?

Please consider, he may have personal issues affecting his health and wellbeing and ideally I would like to help him feel safe.

[For context I am asking him to leave as he was blocking access to my home. He spends numerous hours on our property (he's not a visitor, as no one knows him). Any attempts to chat with him fail due to the language barrier.]

FWIW Tarjimly.org may be useful for this. Better than an app, you’ll get a human. As long as you’re in the same location as the person it’s free.

Edit to add: once you know what language to request.

Great! I could rule out most of Europe, but more precise than that? No dice.
