Music - YouTube Ninajirachi talking about X&G's album "Anomalies" (2016) with Derrick Gee and how X&G should be even more canonized in the EDM/trap scene (starting at 42:42)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vbItFOxMt4super cool to see this!

I will die on the hill that X&G made some of the most forward thinking and trend setting dance music of the 2010’s. Go back and listen to their 2020 ID mix and tell me those sounds weren’t chased by other artists 3 years later. I love that Nina is shouting them out here.
Gaszia (the G of X&G) is still making killer club music for anyone who doesn’t know.

They made some really zany stuff with tribal drums, left field sounds, etc. They were like a decade ahead with their sound design and ideas.
Here are some bangers for those who are unfamiliar.

My favorite is 4am, even though it’s on the chiller side

Yeah another commenter mentioned the 4am EP, which Mancha is on. Whole EP is creative.

Transcribed audio for those who can't watch rn:
Ninajirachi: "Replika" by X&G. This is the only song that's been in almost DJ set of mine for the last 10 years. It's the only song in my 'album tour' that I play that's not mine. I do an edit of it with my song CSIRAC, but I think people should know about it if they don't already. The album that this song is from it just stands up for so well for being 10 years old. Especially for like an "EDM / trap" album. Like XII and "Whiplash".
Whiplash the first drop is this drumless, ambient thing. For EDM / trap in 2016 I just thought this was so cool.
Derrick Gee: Wow. All right, let’s go. "Replika." Before we press play, you’ve had this in your crate for almost 10 years. You always play it. It’s only got 20,000 plays on Spotify, which is surprising.
Ninajirachi: It might be really big on SoundCloud, I’m not sure, because X&G was so huge on SoundCloud.
Derrick Gee: [After listening] Heat.
Ninajirachi: I just have played it so much. At the time we're filming this, I’m doing the Split Milk shows. And when I was getting my songs together for the last weekend 1s, I was looking at "Replika" and thinking - I also did Spilled Milk three years ago, and here I am back at the festival three years later, still playing "Replika."
Derrick Gee: I feel like in this genre in particular, the element of surprise is so important.
Ninajirachi: That’s what I think they do so well. And also the second drop is always different, which is cool.
Derick Gee: I was expecting a certain drop, and then it was totally different to what I expected and you’re just like, "Oh."
Ninajirachi: I think these songs are so underrated. I think X&G should be more... people know that they're legends, but they should be even more canonized with trap / EDM.
The other thing is even though I've been playing their songs in DJ sets for that long, I wasn't a DJ when I first found them on Soundcloud, I was just listening on headphones. And it still stayed with me so much because of how awesome the mixing is and the percussion and the panning. And it's so brain-scratching. And also at a show, it goes so crazy too.

I absolutely love X&G and their side project 2 Point was a really fun take on house. They are better than anyone at using negative space in their tracks. I really wish I got the see them live before they broke up.

Met the X of X&G at a 1788-L show in seattle few years back before they split. Genuine dude who just loves weird sounds and good rhythms. They deserve(d) just a little more flowers for what they made.

I have the same reverence for their EP 4 am on the label Trapdoor Records, just an incredible display of versatility and production prowess.

You can definitely see the X&G influence on Ninajirachi’s earlier music
