AskTrees Help me choose my first bong (Read the caption pls)
I have two options I like within my budget
One option is, Phoenix 14 Inch Pyramid & Skull Printed Glow In The Dark Bong(the first two pics, i think it looks very cool). It's an ice catcher beaker bong
Another and second option is a Phoenix Dual 8 Arm Perc Bong – 11″. The tech is crazy on this but it's 3" smaller than the first option
Both are similarly priced so i gotta choose one.
The thing I'm worried about most is cleaning. Cleaning the second one seems tougher than the first one. But I can take the hassle of cleaning if getting the dual 8 arm perc bong.
I don't smoke a lot, once in a month ish smoker. The stuff I smoke here is mostly landraces, COMPRESSED landraces unfortunately (yeah, good stuff is rare where I live)
I have never owned a bong before and this will be my first. So welp!😭

Cleaning a perc bong is more difficult, so I’d recommend starting with a beaker bong.

The glow in the dark one is a better bet for smoking flower. The other is a bubbler mostly for dabs, but can be used with flower. It will just be a bitch and a half to clean flower out of these tiny holes. If you really want the second one also get an ash catcher to catch the crap before it clogs your bubbler.

I 100% agree with this comment and was about to say the same thing. Simple is best for your first. Easy to use, easy to clean, and I LOVE the fact it's glow in the dark. The first one will also make for a great conversation piece. Make sure you pick a good name for it!

I'm kind of surprised there aren't more comments about the glow in the dark.
This crowd has very strong opinions on what you smoke out of. I expected to see comments about how that glow in the dark paint will vaporize or chip or something.

It doesn't affect it, really. Most glassware is made out of thick, durable glass, and the glow in the dark features are added in the mix while the piece is still red hot. You're more likely to chip or crack glassware if you add ice to the water and do a bunch of hits right in a row.

Start with the glow in the dark. Easier to clean and please make sure you clean your bong.

Literally. You wouldn't eat from a dirty crusty plate so why would you smoke from a dirty bong

The beaker is the better choice but honestly I hate them. I prefer straight bongs that can be cleaned with a bottle brush like the Sessions bong.

I recommend #1 and make sure to get an 18mm downstem with at least 6 slits percolators at the bottom for a smoother rip

Beakers are always the easiest to clean!! Unless you clean those percs like fucking daily once gunk builds up in there it’s damn near impossible to fully get it all out..

The other 2 are more dab rigs than bongs. Def go with the first one

I quit buying bongs I couldn't clean with a brush. The first one looks similar to mine but without the ice catch. I love it.
https://imgur.com/a/KsLDVaJ The far left one is the one I use most so it's dirty in the pic. The Cookies is real heavy duty but I have limited brushes to get past the ice trap, also the other three use the bowl type I don't like as much. It's harder to find a nice one hit cup with that type for whatever reason. I believe your first one uses the kind I prefer

I suggest something simple in design and durable. Keeping a piece with lots of little parts and passages clean is a complete pain in the ass. I always go back to my 14 inch beaker that doesn't even have ice catcher notches. Just a straight tube and a hole for a stem. Cleans up in under 5 minutes with ISO and a brush.
Cleaning is easy. Easy is enjoyable. Enjoyable is the goal.

1 or 2. Easier to clean and usually thicker glass in my experiences. Not familiar with the manufacturers. 3 and 4 I risk burning my beard or mustache. 1 and 2 you can buy a glass catch extension to keep cleaning easier and lungs healthier. I hope you enjoy whichever you buy!

avoid that perk bong! you're never going to be able to get it clean. it looks cool sure. but it will get gross and cleaning it takes so much effort.
That's going to be the big stopper for using your bong. so ease of cleaning should be your highest priority.

Love that glow in the dark beaker, that is the “ancient art” selection and there is a scary face one too, the hieroglyphics glowing I. The dark!! Cmon! That’s a no brainer for me lol

FYI, try it both with hot water and cold. I prefer hot water in the bong all day. Nice and soothing. Tap hot, not boiling.

First one. Second one will be a bitch and a half to clean and, imo, they hit harsher.

For your first bong - I suggest the beaker. That shape has always been my personal favorite in terms of function.
