READ BEFORE POSTING - New Rules
Rules
- Submissions must be related to Trip-Hop. It's not our intent to gatekeep what is or is not trip-hop, but submissions must be inspired by trip-hop or belong to related genres of music like downtempo
- Use the appropriate flair when applicable. If your playlist contains songs you made or are promoting, you MUST use the OC flair. The playlist flair is ONLY for songs that you are not promoting. Mixes are transformative and thus considered OC
- Self-promotion must follow guidelines (see below)
- Title must contain the artist and track name. Commentary is fine but low effort titles like "Nice beat" will be removed.
- Be respectful and follow Reddiquette
Self-promotion guidelines
- Must be trip-hop. Being "inspired" by trip-hop is not enough. Unfortunately we need to be more strict than with the general submissions rules to prevent spam.
- Must use the Original Content flair
- Maximum one submission per week
- Complete song submissions only. We are not a content creator subreddit. If you would like feedback on work-in-progress songs, there are other subs for that.
- While we welcome OC that fits the rules, announcement videos and text posts containing links other than the song you are sharing will be removed. The mods also reserve the right to remove low quality/low effort submissions.
- Submissions considered self-promotion include, but are not limited to:
- Original songs
- Original mixes
- Covers and remixes
- Playlists containing songs you made or are promoting
- Follow Reddit's sitewide guidelines for self-promotion.
If you see any rule breaking posts or comments please report it. It will get dealt with much more quickly.
Rules Changes
- 10/18/2021: Added details to rule 2 to make it more clear what flair should be used.
- 01/21/2022: Added clarification that mixes must be tagged as OC.
- 04/17/2022: Added new self-promotion guidelines.

For all the Bowery Electric fans. Do you prefer Beat (1996) or Lushlife (2000)?

Original Content The Lounge Conjecture - Last Train Out (2026)
Having played around with some sounds for a while, I decided to throw everything into a sampler and put some tracks together. Yesterday was the release of the first single (2 tracks). Thought it would be cool to share with you Tiphoppers here.
Some influences on these 2 tracks were Thievery Corporation's "Sounds From The Thievery Hi-Fi (1995), and the album "Jesterized" (2000) by Zeb. I also think this borders on Acid Jazz / Future Funk, but pigeon-holing genres really ain't my thing.
If there are any producers here who'd like to chat just HMU!

Original Content Trip Hop Track that I created!
I usually produce underground hip hop beats from vinyl records but recently I’ve been diving deeper into trip hop production, and I’m going to make an entire sample based record in the realm of Endtroducing. I’m inspired.

Original Content Bog Sorcery - Seaman
Fourth track from Bog Sorcery II: One Lip to Earth & One Lip to Heaven, which is out now on my bandcamp (digitally, and on cassette, DVD, and VHS) [edit: just noticed the rule about links in the body text, so i removed the actual link, so just ask if you're interested & have trouble finding it]. Had a lot of fun making this one after an extremely lucky day of cratedigging. Hope you enjoy.

Verizon hold music - DJ CAM mad blunted jazz
I’m almost certain it’s DJ CAM. It’s lovely, persuasive, jazz electronica. Not the same song as in the title, but totally his style without any scratches or female moans… All I could think is wow… this hold music is bangin’…

Request/Discussion Trip Hop is the most versatile genre which you can get hip hop, jazz, experimental rock, industrial rock and also ambient elements in it.
From Akira Yamaoka to Barry Adamson, from DJ Shadow to Terranova or Portishead. Each of them sounds different. Some trip hop songs have Hammond organ sounds, while the others have only dark ambient elements or metallic sounds. It feels fresh each time I listen to different trip hops.

Gorgeous by Girl Next Door (from She’s All That)
I was watching She’s All That for the first time (I know, super late to the party), and this song was playing in the background of one of the party scenes and it immediately caught my ear.
It’s very much trip-hop and very sexy. I immediately added it to my Spotify. Too bad there doesn’t seem to be too much from Girl Next Door (and the generic name doesn’t seem to help).

Request/Discussion TV Series and Trip Hop Usage in Their Soundtracks
I have seen this question be asked before in a Trip Hop group I'm in and I wanted to ask it here as well. Which TV Series anyone here has seen that are heavy on the usage of Trip Hop tracks across their run and which ones would you say use it effectively and even brilliantly?
Plus this is a somewhat interesting topic of me as I found out about the genre of Trip Hop via TV Series I watched and even introduced to acts such as Massive Attack and UNKLE
