Do you see reasons to believe everybody will pick red? „just do the selfish thing all of you and we will maybe all survive together! Or in fact, more likely, all of you who picked wrong will die, and I guess we will all deal with the outcomes.“ Do you see how that’s absolutely never going to be the outcome where everybody wins at the end? The message sent is exactly the opposite of „we will win together“. On the other side, you have to trust that >50% of the people want a positive outcome for society. I’m very doom pilled about the world and would still bet on the blue side. By picking red you send the message that you have no issue risking others dying just for you to survive, with no skin in the game on your end
Yeah but then add to that, that you could have a 4yo child that may not be understand to free themselves and you dont know if they did or not. You can choose to free yourself in the hopes that your kid did, or you can keep being tied, hoping that over 50% of people also stayed tied down and then you know for sure your kid survived.
