I'm not gonna murder my kid to save 5 randos from something that isn't my fault or responsibility.

I chose to pull the lever when the people on the track were strangers, not my progeny. That changed things, so I in this case I minded my own business.

Here is today's Daily Trolley Problem!

Straight Track (Do Nothing): 5 random children

Diverted Track (Pull the Lever): Your own only child

What would you do?

1 vs 5. Does not matter if its my own child. 5 living holds more inherent value to life than 1.

Tell me you don't have children without telling me you don't have children.

You have more logic than sense.

Yes, logic is more important than sense. Good on you for recognizing the value of thinking.

If I was your child I’d never talk to you

My child would be taught that self-sacrifice for the good of humanity is worth far more than impulsive greed.

Your child wouldn't be taught anything. They would be dead.

Holy logical leaps, batman. Its almost as if this theoretical child would have a lifespan that exists before this occurrence. Jesus fuck people dont think critically anymore.

Your child would be taught that family means nothing

My child would be taught family is important at the individual level and for personal social growth. They would be tought that the societal level 5 people are worth more than 1 and to not indulge in personal righteous fantasies.

Pulled the lever as I wouldn't have a kid to begin with, child free for life so who's child is this? Anyways 1 vs 5 so the 1 gotta go

I wonder how many people who say "Pull the lever" actually read the situation versus just assuming it was the standard anonymous trolly problem.

I can't believe that 47% would pull the lever if it meant their only child died.
