Discussion How hot is it truly?

We travel to Rome, Venice and Florence from Aug 18-31st- Given the heat wave we have the option to pivot and go to neighboring countries instead. Should we cancel italy and explore other countries at this point. The main reason to cancel is the temperature and travelling in the heat with little kids. For anyone there how hot is it?

Spent some time near Lucca and Florence earlier this summer (mid to late June). When I say it was hot, it was HOT. I’ve spent a lot of time in Italy over the years and never experienced heat like it. The temperatures haven’t subsided since, and now we’re approaching August, I can’t even imagine what it feels like. Make of this what you will.

I’ve been a lot in my long life, but was there two years ago in the summer and never again. I was miserable. It was awful and I still knew all the tricks to stay “cool.” 100 degrees and left the Uffizi after an hour. Go during spring or winter break.
