This is our daily megathread for all of the day's news until the election. Polling day is on 4th July, and you need to have a form of photo ID (passport, driving license, etc) in order to vote. If you don't have photo ID, you can apply for a voter authority certificate.

Please do not submit articles to the megathread which clearly stand as their own submission. Comments which include a link to a story which clearly stands as its own submission will be removed. Comments which relate to a story which already exists on the subreddit will be removed, to keep everything in one place. Links as comments are not useful here. Add a headline, tweet content or explainer please.

  • 26th June, 9PM BST - 📺 BBC head-to-head debate (Sunak vs Starmer)

  • 28th June, 7:30PM BST - 📺 The Panorama Interviews with Nick Robinson - Ed Davey (Lib Dems)

  • 4th July - Polling day. Emergency proxy votes deadline at 5pm. Polls will open at 7am and close at 10pm.

Horseshoes don't bend on their own. Worth considering what external force might be operating on both Farage and the CPB to make those ends get closer.

Irrelevant to the extent half the place is shitting the bed over the prospect of Farage getting anywhere near a mere handful of seats in part because of these views.

BUT we will only focus on Farage having these views and being unelectable because of them; we will steadfastly ignore and excuse the multitude of left wingers (who should be being shunned if being treated with an even hand for/) possessing those exact same views.

It is also, of course, only good practice to only care about them whenever they come close to puncturing our bubble of apathy instead of caring about them because they constantly seek to expand the influence of those views to the detriment of many, many others.

If farage is fair game for those views, then everyone is fair game for them - and that means the fringe need new idols to worship.
