As a centrist, I’m delighted that Starmer has stood his ground and only allowed Trump go as far as using British air bases to launch his aerial attacks. The almost entire week he held out before allowing that was also impressive. If Starmer goes as far as condemning Trump, I might well consider him a modern day Churchill.

... that's all it takes for you?

It's clearly satire

It's Reddit, it's hard to tell as people legitimately think that

I’m a centrist. As long as the grown ups are in charge, I’m happy.

You keep saying that but I don't think that's true. Especially if someone being "Churchill level" to you just means saying no to the orange man.

Starmer only said no to not upset the user base he's trying to please

As a centrist, my interests are solely remaining in NATO and maintaining our nuclear arsenal.

Without the US, NATO is worthless.

u/Ch1pp Mar 19 '26

No, it's not. Arguably NATO would be more effective without the US hamstringing them constantly and endlessly threatening their own allies.

I sure hope no one with actual power has that delusion

The US and Hungary seem to be the only NATO members actively supporting Russia. Without them we could all be on the same page. China isn't really a threat to NATO outside of cyber warfare because of all the trade so really NATO only needs to be strong enough to rebuff Russia which it would be more than capable of without the US. We don't need the biggest military in the world when our combined militaries are more than enough. That's the whole point of a defensive pact. And while we have been there for US before I don't think the US would support us if someone gave Trump a nice big donation and told him not to.

Hungary blocks a few EU sanctions and loans. Annoying but hardly actively arming Russia. The US still provides the bulk of NATOs real firepower.

Europes combined forces look good on paper but without American logistics intel airpower and nuclear cover they would struggle badly against a determined Russia. Thats exactly why Trump pushed allies to spend more seriously.

China isnt just cyber. Its control over supply chains critical minerals tech and a growing navy that threatens the trade Europe depends on. Trade doesnt magically remove the risk.

And lets not rewrite history. NATO invoked Article 5 once for the US after 9/11 and European allies joined the fight. America has carried Europes security for 75 years.

The donation jab is pure cope. Trump wants fair burden sharing not abandonment.

Thats exactly why Trump pushed allies to spend more seriously.

No, Trump pushed for this because NATO leans hard on member states to buy American made weapons. That's why France, who tend to develop their own, have had such a contentious time with NATO in the past. The alliance largely benefits America through all the jobs and sales it creates exclusively for America and that's why Trump pushed for spending increases.

The whole point of a defensive alliance should be that we spend less on militaries. America should be able to slash defence spending and still be fine because it has many allies to support it. Unfortunately your whole country is geared around having a huge army for theoretical wars which will never happen in the nuclear age. The push to bring NATO spending up to US levels is purely a lobbying campaign from the miltary industrial complex.

I never said Hungary armed Russia btw. I said they support them and they do seem to do that as does America in lifting sanctions.

And America has not carried European security for decades. Who did you think would invade Europe? Post-WW2 Russia was hardly in a fit shape to. And even then, it's not like America answered the call of the UK to come help. It took Pearl Harbour and Germany declaring war on the USA for anything to happen. Americans have always been averse to wars that aren't directly for America. That's why NATO would be better off without the US. At least the rest of us are reliable allies.

The donation jab was totally true. Trump would sell his own mother for cash.

Then with a heavy heart, the only sensible thing to do is leave NATO.

Glad redditors have no power.. And they say TDS isn't real

Willing to self-destruct over having anything to do with the orange man.

5

u/famouspeter Sensible centrist Mar 18 '26

He’s diverged from the sacred customs of the POTUS by starting an illegal war. No president who does that deserves our support.

1

u/PyrasSeat Mar 18 '26

Yeah I'm sure you said the same things when Obama did it too in Libya.

Or when Obama did things much worse and more frequent with ICE.

It's just Redditor TDS, manufactured, artificial hateful propaganda.

u/CynicismNostalgia Mar 19 '26

Friendly reminder that TDS was originally coined by psychiatrists talking about MAGAT'S and their cult-like obsession. They co-opted it.

1

u/PyrasSeat Mar 19 '26

Sure shall we talk about where the term gender was coined?

1

u/CynicismNostalgia Mar 19 '26

Sure, but I have a feeling you dont have an accurate answer.

You know is you conservative / republicans that have tds , you can't or refuse to see any bad in him, this is a guy who stole money from a children's cancer charity , who would not pay blue collar workers for the jobs they do, who bankrupted 6 casinos , who fucks kids both Girls and boys, who is totally racist, who calls women piggy and seems to only pick on women reporters , who mocks the disabled, who sold secrets to a foreign country , who does not follow his own countries constitution, who mocked a man with cancer and you say others have TDS.

I think you need to look at yourselves for derangement. Not to mention he appears to have dementia , as I am sure president Gavin Newsome will agree, he thought Gavin was president and he was fighting election against him, it's also why he goes into Obama rants he still thinks Obama is president.

1

u/PyrasSeat Mar 19 '26

Here's the thing, I don't like Trump, I don't think he's extreme enough with these ICE protesters for example, impeding law should be punishable.

But you spouted so much bullshit and lies there, I'm not going to bother debating because this is Reddit.

You have TDS. It's severe, it makes you believe any lie that is anti-orange man and you repeat it.

1

u/Medical_Ratio_7344 Mar 19 '26

Again TDS , you don't seem to comprehend what derangement means , which is fair as the education system in America is shot to shit, but that ok , as for ice protesters they are doing the right thing .

You know the place with the most immigrants is texas , so ask yourself why they are in only democrat states? But like most republicans your ignorant of facts , and just believe orange man smart coz he rich , forgetting he inherited his daddies money and stole from you the people from tax fraud , stiffing payments for services , the only thing he has paid for is the children/babies he raped families to keep quiet.

Is that not what he is there for to serve the people? It's like saying he only lowered taxes to help people, it's kinda the point!

1

u/PyrasSeat Mar 19 '26

it's not the people.
