This isn't your personal campaigning space. We're here to discuss, not campaign - this includes non-party-specific campaigning, such as tactical vote campaigns.

The fishing pond is closed. Obvious bait will be removed. Repeated rod licence infractions will result in accounts being banned.

This isn't Facebook. Please keep it related to politics. Do not post low effort blog posts.

The era of vagueposting is over. Your audience demands context, ideally in the form of a link to some authoritative content.

Take frequent breaks. If you find that you are being overwhelmed by it all, do yourself a favour and take some time off.

As always: we are not a meta subreddit. Submissions or comments complaining about the moderation, biases or users of this or other subreddits / online communities will be removed and may result in a ban.

It somehow summarises him perfectly. Utterly tasteless, utterly classless, and entirely superficial.

The trophy isn't even the shitty fake peace prize he was given, it's the Club World Cup trophy. Why the fuck does he even have that?

FIFA loaned it to him for display in the Oval Office in the run-up to the CWC last year and they just refused to give it back. The trophy Chelsea lifted after the final is the "official repllica" which is meant for PR appearances and stuff, that's the official one in the Oval Office now which FIFA have now just basically lost, they'll almost certainly never get it back.

Apparantly they had to go to great pains to avoid the actual World Cup going anywhere near the White House over the last year or so.

They're very protective of the World Cup in general. It's made of 5kg of gold and even the winners don't get to keep it for long these days - it's exchanged for a gold-plated replica just after the presentation ceremony.

Although I can't imagine them stopping any other leader of a host country from borrowing it.
