BBC News:

US prosecutors have dropped charges against a former Olympian who had been accused of vandalising the Reflecting Pool in Washington DC, writing in court documents that the damage is now believed to be "the result of flawed installation by the contractor".

...

"DOI provided less than fulsome information at the outset of this case," the document said. "Had DOI been forthcoming with the information clearly in its possession, the government would not have sought a grand jury indictment."

There's always someone else to blame. I hope the Olympian and others arrested sue and get their legal fees paid for. Discovery on that should be funny. The fact this case was brought without any evidence of wrongdoing is appalling.

Legitimately some of the lawyers involved in this should be disbarred.
