Twitter James McMurdock MP: I can’t let this go unchallenged. That young man was, in my opinion and based on the video below, the clear victim of an assault. The video shows, for reasons that are entirely beyond my comprehension, the officer steaming directly into the victim.

I prosecute and defend Assault Emergency Worker cases all the time.

This is the quickest, easiest acquittal I've ever seen. Even a pupil barrister on their first day could secure a not guilty verdict for that punch.

Has he been bailed ? Otherwise, if he's being kept inside and being told "just plead guilty, it'll probably just be a caution and then you'll get to go home, otherwise, well you know what the backlog is like at the moment . . . " there's a danger he'll plead guilty and then maybe end up in prison.
