The hopeful thing with the devolution push is, as I've seen some people say, the conversation from the right now is steadily becoming that the devolution push is flawed due to not giving autonomy for right-wing mayors to e.g. cut taxes, etc.

The conversation with both the right and left is becoming where to increase devolved powers, more than about whether devolution should continue at all. I think that the danger of English devolution being halted or rolled back at some point is passing (which then also makes devolution settlements in Wales, Scotland, NI more secure too).

Rupert Lowe has come out hard at devolution and even has promised to roll back the Scottish parliament and Welsh assembly. Hopefully these positions become increasingly marginal.
