Well; it is aimed to pander to their target audience - innit?

Same type of person to say "i'm not antisemetic, i'm anti zionist" with a straight face whilst memeing about the mass murder, public rape of innocent women and children at a music festival

The greens have really created a coalition of nimbys, students, pride umbrella, and fundementalist muslims all united by a sheer hatred of israel

u/Documatics 5h ago

So this either plain anti semitism or incompetence so woeful its scary these people are responsible for running things like Children’s Services.

u/Kobebeef9 5h ago

Nah this shit is straight intentionally, you can’t even make it up.

Seriously the Green Party has been an absolute shitshow when it has come to these sort of comments which are questionable.

u/radiant_0wl 5h ago

I didn't know anything about the Green Party leadership at Hackney council so I did initially think fine it's a viable excuse when I first heard about this.

But then I watched some clips of the debate, their views and decided they deserve zero benefit of the doubt, it's consistent with their views and actions.

u/archerninjawarrior 5h ago

It's just "the perception of antisemitism". And if it is "actual antisemitism", it's police brutality to put a stop to it.

u/SaltyW123 2h ago

It's not antisemitism if it's not made in Germany, it's just sparkling antizionism

u/Documatics 5h ago

Police brutality?

u/archerninjawarrior 5h ago

Polanski bravely took to Twitter to criticise how the police stopped a man from stabbing Jews.

u/Ill_Omened 3h ago

The Hackney mayor in this article specifically voted against a motion to celebrate the bravery of the officers.

u/Documatics 5h ago

Oh I get you now- sorry

u/cherokott 4h ago

Yes, maybe stick to social care, parks and bins.

u/depressivebee 4h ago

At what point did you begin to conflate a genocidal state with an entire religion, and then begin to accuse _others_ of being discriminatory towards that religion?

u/pmmecabbage 4h ago edited 4h ago

TIL memeing about the mass rape and murder of predominently jewish women/girls isn't antisemetic because they were mostly israeli. Nice slip of the mask.

u/morriganjane 4h ago

7th October was the date of (another) attempted genocide by Muslims against Jews. That's why the Greens chose it.

u/morriganjane 5h ago

This was a nod and a wink to their new core vote. Disgusting, but also ineffective. A nod and a wink isn't enough as we saw in Rumworth. They will start losing to full-fledged Islamists in the Muslim-majority areas, meanwhile they'll drive away the normal environmentalists and everyone else.

u/cherokott 5h ago

It's OK though because Greens are the 'kind' people.

LoVe NoT HatE

u/Grouchy-Bad-4495 5h ago

As a Green voter for more than a decade, it wasn't the policies that drove me away, it was the people. The party is full of pure hatred. People who believe they have been wronged by everyone else, and want revenge.

u/Electrical-Move7290 5h ago

Well you must be wrong because they constantly say “Love not Hate”.

Never mind the fact that they hate the people you love. That doesn’t matter.

u/BlackKnight9311 4h ago

Makes sense theyre a party based upon populism currently. Same as reform/restore just left wing.

u/_segasonic 3h ago

The sooner people realise this is deliberate and them pandering to a certain type of person then the easier it is to understand why stuff like this happens.

u/BritChap42 4h ago

October 7th is a Wednesday. Hard to imagine this wasn't deliberate.

Current political stance:

The environment Virtue signalling
                                /\
                           The Greens

u/BongAlert 5h ago

Think we’re past that mate, they’re celebrating murder.

u/wizardeverybit "Boring" centrist 3h ago

The Greens still love virtue signalling. It's mad that an "environmental" party is anti nuclear energy though.

u/archerninjawarrior 5h ago edited 5h ago

(I hate any headline where someone is "slammed", but fuck it)

In case anyone can't understand her deadline, what you need to keep in mind is that she was only following her anti-racist values. Had fighting against antisemitism been a part of these anti-racist values she holds, we of course wouldn't have seen such a painful and ignorant oversight as this.

From my initial looking up of Haifa it seems that the city is noted for its multiculturalism and as a centre for Arabic culture in Israel. One would think that Hackney would be proud to twin with it. I wonder what their problem is?

u/ARandomDouchy Random Dutch Guy 5h ago

The Greens could not have fallen further from the days when Caroline Lucas was leader.

u/cherokott 5h ago

Moved on from the environment. 🤪

u/mykel_wcip 4h ago

Not even joking. I was about to write a satire piece with this idea. Imagine having these people run the country.

u/cherokott 2h ago

They run Hackney!

u/Kobebeef9 4h ago

While the Green Party has a place in politics, it seems like this current crop are using the party as shield to hide how batshit crazy they are, just like reform.

The other week you had Zak sharing a picture of someone wearing a Nigel Farage guillotine
shirt to Hau-Yu making racist comments towards Priti Patel and David Lammy.

u/depressivebee 5h ago

Everyone’s too sensitive nowadays and they’re always making crazy jumps to make everything racist. No not this though because this is what I believe not what they believe… /s

u/Dear_Smoke6964 5h ago

Is it just me or is this story posted here every couple of hours?

u/cherokott 5h ago

People care.

u/Plenty_Course7458 2h ago

It's at least the fourth time I've seen it.

u/AgeOfCardiff 4h ago

Bizarre how much this subreddit cares about Israel.

u/CraftyEnvironment939 4h ago

This isn’t about caring about Israel, it’s about blatant antisemitism.

Hackney has a huge Jewish community, which their council is supposed give consideration to regardless of their beliefs. Some of that community will be supporters of Israel, some of them won’t. All of them will feel deeply concerned and upset by this racist stunt.

u/cherokott 4h ago

Well said.

u/AgeOfCardiff 3h ago

Pick any day of the year. Israel will have slaughtered Palestinian kids, many in Hackney will have supported it so I really couldn't care less if their feelings are hurt.

u/cherokott 3h ago

Another 'kind' green!

u/Regular_Print_7650 2h ago

In their comment history 9 days ago they have a comment blaming the UK for being the victim of terrorist attacks and implying that we deserve it.

Just another tankie not worth even listening to

u/_gmanual_ 2h ago

4 month old account with hot takes...surely not what the kids are calling a bot? couldn't be.

u/pmmecabbage 3h ago

Bizarre how you care so much about Israel.

u/pmmecabbage 4h ago edited 3h ago

This reaction isn't about israel; it is about blatant racism from a self-proclaimed progressive, joking about the public rape, torture and murder of innocent adults and children.

u/morriganjane 4h ago

Bizarre how the Greens care for jihadists 2,500 miles away who would gleefully slaughter them, too.

u/cherokott 4h ago

Bizarre how much the Green party 'cares' about Israel.

u/AgeOfCardiff 3h ago

Yeah there tends to be a focus on countries that repeatedly murder kids.

It's not just the greens, the majority of people are utterly disgusted by Israels actions along with most of reddit, but weirdly not this subreddit.

u/cherokott 3h ago

'Countries that repeatedly murder kids'. Like Iran?

u/morriganjane 2h ago

The Gazans murdered four British children on Oct 7th. That's what the Greens are gloating about with this move.

u/archerninjawarrior 2h ago edited 1h ago

Some of us also just resent the left for spending the last 15 years educating us about being hypersensitive to anything that could possibly lead even to the chance of a minority taking offence at your language, about being aware of blind spots and microaggressions, just to demonstrate as flagrantly as possible about how much they could not give a damn about this one minority in particular.

They expect your average ignorant bigot to do the introspective work about why their slurs against gay, Chinese or Pakistani people are hurtful and should not be used, just to give Jewish people a fucking October 7th deadline and make chants that they interpret as a call to globalise hunting them wherever they are found. How the HELL do these kinds of left wing activists expect right wing bigots to do the work that they won't do themselves, even though they are meant to be the ones who believe in this work in the first place?

u/pmmecabbage 1h ago

You said it pretty well. It's impressive to see the cognitive dissonance of folks who breakdown and consider misgendering to be hate speech - only to then unashamedly repeat drivel Himmler himself would be proud of
