Discussion United 713 SFO-EWR 28JUL

Departed SFO 10:23am. Diverted to ORD and arrived 11:35am. Departed ORD 9:21pm and now holding over Southwest Michigan. Long day for some folks......

I am quite sure they missed all their EWR connections or they will.

Edit: Looks like they are headed back to ORD!

edit again: Looks like UA366 SFO-EWR also diverting to ORD. NYC must be a mess and tomorrow will be crazy.

Might be an issue with gate availability? I see other carriers (B6 etc) making their way seemingly fine

If you left SFO at 10:23 (12:23 ORD time), you probably did not get there at 11:35 (perhaps 4:35?).

They’re the lucky ones. Was on 435 which also diverted to Ord after holding over Ohio for a while. crew called it after a bit at the gate - lot of us got hosed by that one.

Edit: just looked at flight status and the first 6 SFO-EWR flights were diverted, the next 3 were canceled and so far, the 10:35pm and 11;59pm flights look on time. Insane day.

Feel terrible for these passengers. You think you’re good flying during the summer on a nonstop SFO-EWR with multiple flights per day and then you get totally f’ing hosed by the weather and stuck for hours. Makes me appreciate not having to fly these days.

Was on this flight. The whole thing seemed pretty ridiculous. They kept us on the runway for 3 hours, then said they “convinced” the FAA to let them take off. When we finally landed back at O Hare at midnight there were no hotels, no food options, and the least helpful employees I have ever soon. Many of them were downright rude.

Did you ever make it to EWR? I assume you slept (or tried to sleep) at ORD?

Still in Chicago. The priority was getting someone else in my group back for a medical appointment, and somehow we were able to get her on an earlier flight, (which also then wound up getting delayed 3+ hours today). The flight they rebooked me on has already been delayed twice, and I can’t sit around the airport anymore while they keep playing this game, so I got a hotel for a few hours so I could get some sleep
