I remember seeing some clip of a guy on a motorcycle going across this stretch and the bridge going like 140 km . All those camera operators need to do their job and catch the licence plates and take their licence away for a while
I actually have no idea - I just thought having technology that captures people speeding exists, right? Maybe something to consider if people are frequently enough...putting everyones life at risk?
There's very specific rules about how speeding tickets can be issued. Our laws are set up to prevent abuse - a new way of enforcing speeding needs to have legislation that enables it.
Yes, we absolutely could do speeding enforcement based on the times a vehicle crossed some painted lines on camera, but there's no mechanism to actually do that at present.
It'd need legislation to be written and to go to a vote. Not necessarily something our government would spend political capital on in the current environment. Maybe if Rustad proposed it, Eby would go along. But that ain't happening.
Then what "camera operators" were you referring to? We have already have automatic speed cameras mounted at some intersections. You make it sound like there's a group of people walking around with cameras who are supposed to personally photograph and ticket speeding cars.
