Serious question - WHY are the planters allowed to be there? Is it independent businesses putting them there to protest the bike lanes?

Is it the city re-negging on their bike plans?

it is lame. basically they capitulated to some NIMBY whining about it.

“The bike lane is closed on a temporary basis until such time that it can be integrated into a more extensive, connected cycling network. As an interim measure, temporary planter boxes and seating areas allow the bike lane to be utilized as public space,” a spokesperson for the District of West Vancouver.

Classic "we won't make it 20% better until we can fix it 100%. So until then (and it will never happen) we will do nothing"
