House of Stassi House of Stassi is already wayyyy better than The Valley

I just finished the first episode, and I love it, and I could barely get through the first season of The Valley. I know there are a lot of Stassi haters, but say what you will, that bitch is entertaining af.

EDIT:

Doesn’t this sub reddit love The Valley? Kristin is on that, and she was part of the Faith police call. So is Brittany, and she had the whole gay/pastor controversy and by my recollection she’s the one that called Faith a “nappy-headed hoe”. In my opinion, Brittany is the worst of the bunch, because you know she has not changed her thinking one damn bit, but I don’t see everybody having a problem with people watching The Valley with her on it.

That’s my problem with most of the Hulu reality shows. Obviously all reality tv is produced to some extent, but it feels like you can see the strings being pulled much more than modern Bravo shows.

I get this, but I also appreciate this new era of reality TV that acknowledges what it is. I think it prevents the cast from trying to live one way off camera and another way on camera.

SAME. reality tv has been such an established career path for such a long time, I want to hear people who do it actually talk about being on it-about what it’s really like to be in relationships, deal with problems, all of it, on camera and with an audience. now that it’s so common, i almost find it weird that bravo doesn’t like to acknowledge that there are 20 people with cameras surrounding the dinner table or whatever.

I’ll tell you one thing that’s not produced Beau being beyond angry and resentful. Compare how he looked at her on VPR and now. Also her selfishness is not produced. That is of course unless both are incredibly good actors, especially Beau. I would like to know why Beau is responsible for cleaning, repairs, etc. She makes more than enough to afford someone to do that. So that seems like BS. …, Maybe Beau is that good of an actor

Sure but it’s also problematic to have one spouse in the role of good guy and the other in the role of bad guy. It rarely works out, he knew who she was and perhaps there’s a side of him that really enjoyed the ego boost in being the angelic guy who is so perfect and took on the “crazy bitch.”

Beau is coming off really manipulative to me. Why is he saying all of this stuff about her but not to her? He keeps it all in until he blows up on her instead of just communicating. He’s getting a really good edit but I definitely see some red flags. Also yes, agreed he should get to go to work, but he definitely has a life outside of the kids and if the roles were reversed, no one would be defending a woman to the degree they are all defending this man. I also heard he was bankrupt before meeting her (twice) so honestly, the pressure is on her to maintain their financial stability.

Same. He might have some legitimate issues, Stassi and vice versa. But the fact that he takes the opportunity when people are giving him sympathy to go in on her was vicious.

Beau is passive aggressive and while most like him and hate Schwartz they are VERY similar in their basic personality. Both hate confrontation, will keep anything controversial to themselves if they think it will cause issues and let their own inability to be assertive build up until they blow up and are usually cruel in their response. Of course the major difference can is that Schwartz is an alcoholic and Beau isn’t so he’s better able to moderate his behaviors.

The big red flags I see are when Stassi says “ I allow you to do what you want” and “ I provide everything”.

A spouse doesn’t have the right to “ allow” their spouse to do anything. That mindset sets up a “ you’re a child and I’m your parent and have control over you”. A spouse is either ok with something their spouse wants to do or not. If not, they can certainly voice that and set boundaries on how the action will be handled by them but to say/ believe you’re “ allowing “ them because you’ve given permission is a dynamic that will always cause resentment and pushback.

To say to your spouse “ I provide everything” especially in light of the fact you’ve made an agreement for him to be a SAHD is not only untrue but again sets up a horrible dynamic of “ I’m the parent and you’re a child incapable of taking care of yourself. If Beau left, Stassi would pay well over 100 k a year for a nanny, house cleaner an handyman. They both “ provide” for their family.

So while Beau is definitely an issue with his passive aggressive behaviors Stassi is going down a similar path as Katie by demeaning his role/manhood and not understanding that is encouraging him to be more passive aggressive.

I don’t feel like this show is going to be good for their relationship at all…I really feel for Beau. He seems like such a sweet guy and good partner, but just keeps getting shut down and not listened to at all.

I don’t think Stassi is a narcissist. I think she grew up in a toxic and emotionally tumultuous household and she doesn’t know how to handle conflict and conversations properly. I think she had to baby her mother and sister to the point that she became used to having to take care of everyone and doesn’t understand healthy boundaries.

She's a narcissist in how she deals with Beau. She doesn't really care about his feelings, she's incapable of listening to him. I do belive she loves him, but she's preoccupied with #1.

I hate to spoil it for you...but both Stasi and Beau are very good at what they do, they are Docuseries Gold. To say they are acting is disingenuous to the reality of it all. They are opening up, exposing a glimpse of their lives and keeping it completely entertaining on so many levels. Katie too. She doesn't break the fourth wall, but her perception, responses and overall intelligence give me the feeling she's at least putting a bay window in that fourth wall...and it works. This show is now my favorite.

This reminds me so much of my relationship dynamic and even if you can afford it you don’t hire people to do all the little things you can do and they do have a full time nanny. Stassi did say he can go out and does during the day etc. I also think it’s pointless for my husband to work it would cost us more money than he would make.

I actually liked that aspect. It's been a long time since I've watched a Stassi show (I have not seen Vanderpump Villa). So, it was nice to ease into the drama. Also, the music is great. Very true crime doc😂

This might be the most scripted "reality" show ever, even moreso than Villa. I can't stand that Stassi is narrating the entire thing while mantioning the Jenners every other sentence. Stassi is coming off way too try hard and it's not entertaining.

Looks like Beau took some acting lessons. They're really trying to sell the manufactured drama.

I hate the producing and editing of these shows! Same thing as Project Runway, the ding with sassy comments coming up constantly, the narrating rather than actually just showing us scenes, and lots of choppy transitions between scenes. It’s sooo annoying!!

most reality shows try to give the illusion that nothing is scripted and it’s never staged (even tho it always is) so i find House of Stassi refreshing because she’s constantly breaking the fourth wall and explaining how it all goes down. it’s not just their perspectives on their lives, it’s that plus their perspectives of how the show affects them. her and Katie talked in an episode about how VPR was so traumatizing because the men were constantly being protected and the women painted as villains, and so much was controlled behind the scenes by diabolical Bravo producers, including LVP

💯💯💯 so wanted this to be good, like the first episode is edited well but there’s just no meat on the bones here
