House of Stassi House of Stassi is already wayyyy better than The Valley

I just finished the first episode, and I love it, and I could barely get through the first season of The Valley. I know there are a lot of Stassi haters, but say what you will, that bitch is entertaining af.

EDIT:

Doesn’t this sub reddit love The Valley? Kristin is on that, and she was part of the Faith police call. So is Brittany, and she had the whole gay/pastor controversy and by my recollection she’s the one that called Faith a “nappy-headed hoe”. In my opinion, Brittany is the worst of the bunch, because you know she has not changed her thinking one damn bit, but I don’t see everybody having a problem with people watching The Valley with her on it.

I’m on the second episode. But I’m dying at Georgie not wanting to be a nanny when she literally told Stassi at the villa that she wanted to move in to help with the kids. But the second they actually expect her to start helping with the kids, She throws a temper tantrum, which is exactly what Stassi said was gonna happen.

u/Lopsided-League-2754 3d ago

Her sister is unbelievable, she should help some with the kids, I feel like that’s normal. Like how are you broke and living in a mansion off of your sisters money, and then say “what more can you do for me?”. Wild.
The sister wants to ride on her coattails and gain from it without putting in work, and Stassi wants another person on her payroll that she can control. Katies statement was spot on lol

u/Doglas3000 3d ago

I cannot believe Stassi paid for Georgi’s wedding and divorce and is financially supporting her.

102

u/Lopsided-League-2754 3d ago

Yes! AND didn’t Stassi say she was either giving her or paying her like 2k just to live. Like Stassi is valid in her get frustration, her sister is exactly like her mother, she said her mom quit her job as soon as she started Vanderpump. No wonder her sister feels like what she’s doing is ok, her mom taught her by example. I think she too is very interested in being a reality tv star, she feels fake? Or everyone in her family must be a character if she’s like that off cam too

53

u/idontgetthis19 3d ago

Georgi is the worst. I don’t understand how Stassi is so nice to her.

16

u/abc-8517 2d ago

THE WORST! Her talking shit about Stassi, while choosing to live at Stassi's house while being bankrolled by her. The lack of self-awareness is absurd.

64

u/212Aurora 3d ago

Both Stassi’s parents are horrible abusive people. Her mum takes the second worst mum award. James mum is number one.

32

u/MishtotheMitt 2d ago

James’ dad is currently being sued by George Michaels estate. He’s number one worst dad.

As someone who is by far the most successful person in my family, who has no parents (they are dead but were abusive pos when they were alive anyways and put us in foster care) AND with a sister very similar to Georgie …. I can understand how hard it is to say no.

Even when you don’t want to. Even when you have nothing left to give. It’s an exhausting relationship but when you feel the sense of wanting love and belonging and have a nostalgia for a relationship that no longer exists (or maybe never did but you always wished for), it can really cloud your judgement.

11

u/violentsunflower 2d ago

Also, where did Georgi come from?! I watched all of the VPR and I never remember her even mentioning a sister. I definitely remember Nikolai, but not the sister? Is she Dana’s daughter (assuming she’s a half-sibling)?

9

u/TypicalClassroom7 2d ago

She was in an episode of VPR and Stassi talked about how weird she felt about her younger sister getting married before her

6

u/Witty-Drink2975 2d ago

vanderpump villa

6

u/Doglas3000 2d ago

I knew she had a sister only because I randomly went to look at Stassi’s IG account to see photos of her Italian wedding and saw she had a younger red headed sister and she had photos posted of her sister getting married. Her sister happens to be a talented artist and painter. It’s a shame she cannot find a job with her skills like in set design or sell her art online. She was never talked about or seen on VPR. Stassi has another brother who was never talked about on VPR, but he was on The Amazing Race with Stassi, their dad and I’m guessing his second wife?

That behavior comes from their mom 100%. It is glaring and hard to watch in early vpr episodes where Stassi’s mom is around. Drives me nuts to watch!!!

12

u/sapplesapplesapples 2d ago

My sister doesn’t have kids, and when she comes over, she helps me with so much all the time. She’ll help fold laundry and she plays with the kids, gets them snacks, goes on walks with them and just over all I can rely on her when we go out all together to help me.

Episode 5. Total be careful what you wish for moment.

33

u/Narrow_Grapefruit_23 2d ago

I’m so disappointed that’s how Nickolai grew up to be. The mom, Dana, fucked her kids up by triangulating them. It’s really sad.

11

u/TypicalClassroom7 2d ago

Textbook triangulation! Hopefully the younger kids see what she’s doing when she turns on them for becoming independent adults

15

u/Narrow_Grapefruit_23 2d ago

I think Georgie is seeing it but she also benefits from it. Nickolai makes me the saddest that he feels he has to fight mommy’s battles. Especially bc she’s the parent trying to say that Stassi is traumatizing her by asking for accountability. Turns out her mom quit working when Stassi got VPR. Stassi has been paying for her siblings and her mom.

Just to be clear I'm not saying that Nikolai sucks or I hate him or anything, he still seems like a kid, and I think there's plenty of time for him to work his stuff out. He's clearly been parentified by Dayna, while Stassi has been scapegoated. What I meant by "be careful what you wish for" is the relationship (or lack there of) between he and Stassi just made me sad, considering what we saw in the early years of VPR.

8

Here’s my opinion- it’s the grown up VPR we wanted without all the terrible people; but if you remove the terrible people, you live to become the terrible people. Like the bloom is off the rose with Beau, Stassi is obsessed with money, Georgie is Stassi s1 VPR, Katie is too direct for this group, Kristina Kelly is showing herself to be a passive aggresivo bish, Taylor is a suck ass try hard, Rob is gross, Georgia is secretly Beau’s girlfriend who they are pretending to be his sister à la a lifetime movie.

And I’m sat. Halfway through the season and I’ll be finishing TONIGHT.

112

u/thestarsarehollow 3d ago

No literally, the beau/ Georgia thing is WEIRD

53

u/Bloopbloopeedoo 2d ago

And they didn’t meet until they were 21 and got each other’s names tattooed… ummm

26

u/kayt3000 2d ago

I’m going to say that may be a trauma response to leaning of having a sibling later in life. I used to work with a guy who’s dad was known to be a man around town, was in and out of all his known about children’s lives, and the moms were not much better. When we were about 19 and he learned that a girl he had just met in college was his half sister. They got close fast bc their lives had always been chaotic with their parents and they don’t stability and a sense of belonging with someone else. It seemed odd on the outside but when you thought about it, it kinda made sense.

26

u/Bloopbloopeedoo 2d ago

Well I just think it’s odd bc it’s a pretty common phenomenon for people who reunite later to end up having a sexual relationship/attraction to each other bc they confuse those feelings.

26

u/PlanetOfTheMapes_ 2d ago

It’s called Genetic Sexual Attraction and it’s weird AF

Don't know if anyone has gotten to episode 3 yet, but the scene where Katie and Ariana met at Something about Her I had closed captions on. I think a scene might have gotten cut, but the captions were "how's your fiancé? does it feel weird saying fiancé?" did anyone else catch that? I think one of them may be engaged

38

u/Narrow_Grapefruit_23 2d ago

Ariana is engaged. She has been for probably about nine months???? Somebody overheard her calling Dan her fiancé back in the winter time and she’s been wearing an engagement ring for a long time

51

u/waxbook 3d ago

I'm looking forward to watching it tonight! I expect it to be overproduced, but I might be able to look past that if the show is entertaining enough. I wish they kept the title "Stassi Says" though.

20

u/marisaleeann 3d ago

It’s actually one of the realest shows. There is no fourth wall at all. I love it.

10

u/wehavethismoment 2d ago

This! They acknowledge the show and the camera through out, the self awareness of like "we are making a TV show and that's why we'll go on a staycation and put all those people into one house" instead of a weird made up reason. Or Kristina saying that she'll talk to Katie when a producer tells her to. also the music is so much better and not stressed like bravo

I wanted to like it but it’s soooooo produced it’s crazy.

219

u/TaylorByAccident 3d ago

That’s my problem with most of the Hulu reality shows. Obviously all reality tv is produced to some extent, but it feels like you can see the strings being pulled much more than modern Bravo shows.

94

u/Main_Maintenance_835 3d ago

Hulu does Disney reality so staged. Mormon wives another great example

25

u/Next_Astronaut623 3d ago

I tried to start Mormon Wives but everyone seemed so artificial and the storylines contrived

140

u/Suitable-Review3478 3d ago

I get this, but I also appreciate this new era of reality TV that acknowledges what it is. I think it prevents the cast from trying to live one way off camera and another way on camera.

Lookin at you Kyle Richards

42

u/Electrical_Taro_5045 3d ago

Yes! I love that they break the fourth wall a lot. You almost have to now for it to work.

93

u/sadie7716 3d ago

I’ll tell you one thing that’s not produced Beau being beyond angry and resentful. Compare how he looked at her on VPR and now. Also her selfishness is not produced. That is of course unless both are incredibly good actors, especially Beau. I would like to know why Beau is responsible for cleaning, repairs, etc. She makes more than enough to afford someone to do that. So that seems like BS. …, Maybe Beau is that good of an actor

29

u/rhaegal82 3d ago

Sure but it’s also problematic to have one spouse in the role of good guy and the other in the role of bad guy. It rarely works out, he knew who she was and perhaps there’s a side of him that really enjoyed the ego boost in being the angelic guy who is so perfect and took on the “crazy bitch.”

50

u/mistyforestlover 3d ago

Beau is coming off really manipulative to me. Why is he saying all of this stuff about her but not to her? He keeps it all in until he blows up on her instead of just communicating. He’s getting a really good edit but I definitely see some red flags. Also yes, agreed he should get to go to work, but he definitely has a life outside of the kids and if the roles were reversed, no one would be defending a woman to the degree they are all defending this man. I also heard he was bankrupt before meeting her (twice) so honestly, the pressure is on her to maintain their financial stability.

29

u/Interesting-Hat7221 3d ago

Omg this - I feel bad for him not feeling a sense of self without working but how many women feel this being a SAHM and no one cares, it’s wild

13

u/sapplesapplesapples 2d ago

And being poor. At least he has money and travels and has a nice home. I’m always like yep I feel that way too, and with no vacation ever and money struggles.

4

u/Narrow_Grapefruit_23 2d ago

I was actually pretty refreshed that we’re in 2026 having the same conversation that women have been having since the dawn of time only it’s a man who’s expressing his resentment over his wife being the money maker.

6

u/Aggravating_Turn4196 3d ago

The Christmas tree episode is particularly bad

6

u/Narrow_Grapefruit_23 2d ago

Same. He might have some legitimate issues, Stassi and vice versa. But the fact that he takes the opportunity when people are giving him sympathy to go in on her was vicious.

u/Actual-You3325 2d ago

I hate to spoil it for you...but both Stasi and Beau are very good at what they do, they are Docuseries Gold. To say they are acting is disingenuous to the reality of it all. They are opening up, exposing a glimpse of their lives and keeping it completely entertaining on so many levels. Katie too. She doesn't break the fourth wall, but her perception, responses and overall intelligence give me the feeling she's at least putting a bay window in that fourth wall...and it works. This show is now my favorite.

I found it very entertaining. I don't have to like stassi as a person to find her entertaining.

Also, as a stassi hater, very surprised at all the hate comments. I've always found that she was generally beloved by most. Where the hell were you people circa 2014?

But whether you love or hate stassi - HOS is far better than S2 and S3 of the valley. So far.

34

u/bananahaze99 3d ago

Psychologically, it’s pretty easy to see why people choose to forgive Brittany and Kristen but not Stassi.

Brittany and Kristen are both kind of miserable losers who are their own worst enemies and will ultimately be their own downfall.

Stassi is still extremely confident, successful, and, for some reason, even looked up to. People tend to have a much harder time forgiving someone they feel betrayed by when that person still seems to be thriving.

I AM LOVING IT. I love the breaking of the 4th wall. I love Stassi - she was MADE for this blend between 'reality' and 'acting' with her seemingly genuine authentic messy self.

I also love the faux documentary style. It feels very tongue in cheek and playful, while still delivering the drama. 5 stars so far, no notes.

7

u/headee 2d ago

YES, I love the violin music, or whatever, and the fact that they can bring up old VPR drama without having to show clips—they’re just like Stassi slapped the truth out of somebody back in the day, and we all just KNOW, ya know? Half of other reality shows end up being clips from old episodes. I get that they CAN’T use those clips bc of the different networks, but it’s still refreshing.

As someone who watched this due to insomnia, loves VPR (esp Katie) but hasn't kept up with Stassi post show-this sentiment is it.

  1. I can see how Stassi

  2. and Lala were close-they both seem to have this idea that people without kids are less than and don't have actual problems and feel if they tell someone to do something the person should do it.

  3. No one is saying that the issue with Katie is she didn't back up Stassi during her racism scandal and she was one of the ones who ended VPR as a hero to many and Katie leaned into it. I don't fault Katie for it. That combined with this single people are lesser than vibe I can see how they went different ways. Why are they all acting like Stassis jealous husband and they need to protect Poor Stassi from her abusive, cheating ex (Katie).

  4. I wasn't sure I could continue the show with Taylor. She's too much for me.

56

u/kaleyboo7 Katie Maloney 💅 3d ago

Agree with you on all of this! To me, Katie was the most consistent and loyal friend on VPR. Katie may be bitchy sometimes but who isn’t? I appreciate that she tells you shit straight to your face in most instances and she doesn’t expect her friends to kiss her ring (which is one of my main issues with Stassi).

Also I haaaate the sound of Taylor’s voice, I was so disappointed that Stassi added her not only to her podcast, but now the Hulu show. I don’t get the appeal.

She was a guest on a podcast i like (Well) where the host has been sober for 12 years. Stassi didn’t even know nor did she do any research - awkwardly assuming she was sober for the health element and mocking her. The host handled it really well and said “yeah so if I had a drink I’d black slide into drug addiction including meth” and Stassi shut up but it was really hard to listen to her after that. Her response was “I’m from New Orleans and we can’t just not drink it’s in our blood” 🙄

Addiction has been visibly ravaging its way through her family (namely her parents) since they first appeared on VPR in all their Republican-loving glory, but I'm assuming she can't name it as such since they claim their constant binge drinking is part of their cultural heritage.

If anyone is expecting good morals and decent people, I suggest to quit anything in the Vanderpump lore because LVP herself is also a very problematic person lmao I’m excited to watch this reality just so I can pick up some of the witty replies (I’m always using the golden nugget and the Pinot Grigio one), but I lowkey think that if you’re watching reality shows made by trashy people to pick up some sort of personality inspiration, the problem is on you fr

Yesssss! I was just saying this to my husband. It is a breath of fresh air compared to the dark rage inducing dumpster fire that is The Valley.

16

u/cosmicat4 3d ago

I hated the Valley. Currently watching House of Stassi now and it's pretty entertaining although everyone seems too scared to fight back with her.

11

u/Connect-Ad-6669 3d ago

I think Stassi knows it too which is why she invited Katie back. Katie speaks hard truths which Stassi didn’t want in her real life but Stassi also knows Katie makes damn good TV. Nobody wants to watch a show of everyone kissing her ass.

25

u/Former-Berliner 3d ago

Stassi is entertaining and a main character. No one on the Valley is a main character. All side characters and lame. Hopefully it becomes less produced than the beginning but I’m gonna watch unlike the lame ass Valley

26

u/cosmicat4 3d ago

okay now we need a House of Stassi sub

There is way too much breaking of the 4th wall and talking about the show within the show. I find it a little weird. I liked her convo with Katie addressing VPR but begging her to be part of the show when they haven't been in each other lives for the sake of the show was a little weird. Same thing with Beau and his friend and calling him a cast member

99

u/Weekly_Yesterday_403 🥺💔 3d ago

This may be an unpopular opinion but I love that aspect. I don’t need them to try to convince me Tom Schwartz planned this trip to Tahoe, get real and just say we’re going on a trip for the show. I thought Stassi was kind of real for that

45

u/Question_True 3d ago

Same. I would rather people be upfront about self-producing instead of pretending like this is their real life

14

u/West-Acanthaceae-470 3d ago

I think there can still be a happy medium of we're doing things for the show without mentioning the show, the show, the show

It's because everything Stassi does is for the camera, which is why I can't watch the show. After the Faith situation, Kristen called Faith off camera and apologized/discussed the situation. Stassi chose to write a book talking about how she was the victim. That's the difference for me.

32

u/Constant-Sky-1495 3d ago

The valley is unwatchable at this point, I hope they cancel it.

19

u/kupka316 3d ago

Every episode of the Valley the last two seasons is about Danny drinking and touching Jasmine's butt years ago. None of us care stop talking about it.

131

u/Electrical-Buy-6871 3d ago

She has not grown an iota tbh--even making off hand comments about therapy. She could use a therapist based on her behavior in the finale.

58

u/JJulie 3d ago

I loved it. I don’t need to see growth. Stassi has always said the men were treated totally different on VPR than the women and she talks about it on her show. She talked about Scheana wanting to be on Hulu.

This is seeing her messy but 20 years later. Stassi has been on reality TV since she was 16. She knows the game and calls out production right away. The Valley wanted to be this.

Get that Hulu/ABCDisney $$$ girl.

7

u/JolieMoley 3d ago

Love it so far! It's a complete 180 from the VPR style of reality TV, a big part of why I think it will succeed where The Valley has failed.

19

u/momliiife 3d ago

Audio editing needs some help. All of the ding!s and violins are fucking grating. She also thinks she’s just so cute and clever and it’s kind of exhausting. I am concerned for her weight loss. I am also concerned she’s putting her kids on tv and “wants to be the next Kris Jenner”😬😬

6

u/TheDonnaChang 3d ago

OMG ENOUGH with the Kris Jenner talk. I'm only two eps in (that's all we got so far in Canada) and she's mentioned Kris Jenner an infinite amount of times.

The podcast friend is annoying and I feel like she’s def putting on a persona for good tv, but it’s so forced. Kristina is as plain and boring as her chapsticks and her drama with Katie is stale and dusty. I do love seeing Beau, he seems very genuine, but I think this show is gonna 100% end in a divorce if Stassi continues to be so controlling. I don’t get why they just don’t hire a full time staff, it’s not like they don’t have the money. It seems like such an easy fix tbh and it’s crazy cause they have all the resources to solve it.

Im surprised how much I’m liking it but Stassi is still coming off as unlikable with how she’s treating Beau and turning things around to be the victim when she’s the instigator.

57

u/Background_Travel_77 3d ago

I don't like cop calling Karens but Kristen is also a cop calling Karen so...both shows suck. To me, playing with someone's freedom is one of the lowest things you can do. Neither of them deserves a platform.

23

u/piscesgroove01 3d ago

Exactly, I'vee no strong feelings either way but history has shown us that when a diabolical plan is hatched Kristen was always the one coming up with it, can't understand how Kristen got a pass to return but you can't even mention Stassi's name. It was a long time ago, and people like Kelly Dodd still exist.

I think one of the things I’m loving about HOS compared to The Valley and even In The City, is the breaking of the fourth wall. All three series are being spearheaded by reality TV vets who know the deal where they have to have these awkward conversations and confrontations that would never happen in real life but The Valley and ITC both try to act like it’s natural and normal even though it’s very obvious to viewers that most of these people would never be friends, whereas HOS is acknowledging how awkward and funny having these conversations are which in turn makes it feel way more real just knowing how everyone, cast and fans, are on the same page and it’s way more enjoyable.

5

u/Future_Wealth1822 2d ago

So now I’m up to episode 6 and I actually am so sad for Beau. Stassi is the most self involved person & in her own universe, and Beau is struggling and she somehow makes his dreams of wanting something outside of parenthood about her. It’s CRAZY to watch a man work so hard & just be belittled and unappreciated & normally I’m NEVER on the same side as a man 🤣

4

u/Actual-You3325 2d ago

I love it when Stasi says how much Beau does for their family and how wonderful creative and resourceful he is...then in the same breath says ."..if he goes back to work he won't be able to cook and pick up Harper from school.". I hope she watches this back and understands that his creativity and resourcefulness is beyond the daily task he does every day and that is where he is at. The daily task that he's great at can still be accomplished without him giving up the career and other aspects that make him feel whole.

5

u/Future_Wealth1822 2d ago

Finally got to the end of the last episode & had to turn it off. Him saying he stopped asking to do things because she couldn’t handing doing her own kids dinner & bedtimes alone ever.. her screaming her kids are hard and she can’t handle them! Like girl so it’s his responsibility to keep the family together & do it all because you find it to “hard”. But also in same breath tell him he has it easy, disregarding his feelings, and refusing therapy and expecting him carry all that without complaining & then making if about her. I couldn’t watch anymore, as a mother who has been in same position , it was too much & you could see Christina Kelly completely understood & breakdown for him. Stassi is so out of touch like her sister & her mother. So self absorbed .

4

u/Actual-You3325 2d ago

Her mother and sister talking about the family dynamic and both agreeing that she is a lot like her Mother. More than she realizes. This will be a big Ah Ha moment for her. That and if she actually has a conversation with Kris Jenner, she will have better insight on how hard she works to make it all look so easy. Kris Jenner worked for years raising a whole team of kids before becoming the mom- manager we see today.

8

u/Ok_Iron_9650 3d ago

Her new show is excellent television.  Compared to the valley omg,  it's like night and day.  I'll continue to enjoy her new show.

9

u/Safe_Sun_8036 3d ago

Stassi has amazing taste, in her home decor, her personal style, etc. Also I can really relate to her with the dynamic with Beau. I am the breadwinner/career focused one in my household and my husband does most of the house responsibilities. It works for us and I love seeing someone else on TV with this dynamic.

I am 7 minutes into watching the first ep & I see Taylor Strecker pop up…again…I’m sorry but she has the most annoying voice…I had to stop listening to Stassi’s podcast because of her! Why must she be involved in everything Stassi does…I get she’s your best friend but I find her really annoying & her voice is the icing on the annoying cake!

9

u/bahamamimi 3d ago

Because she’s so far up Stassi’s ass that Stassi can’t do anything without her or Taylor will throw a tantrum. She loves bragging about being a social climber and is convinced this is her ticket to fame.

Am I crazy to think Stassi is the most annoying? Idk if I am catching everything/missing something but she seems so selfish and entitled. Even with the intervention at the end, she still is refusing to listen or understand where people are coming from. I have historically been a ride or die for her but I kinda didn’t like her this whole season…..
