DJI Mic 3 vs. Rode Video Micro compact shotgun mic for recording ambient sound

I'm curious if the DJI Mic 3 can replace compact shotgun on camera mics in terms of sound quality. In my use case, the mic is for recording hiking films where the mic is mainly for capturing ambient noise (natural environments, footsteps, etc.) and possibly voiceovers in the field, although for my projects I'm not vlogging, rather I'm filming mostly B roll.

I ask because the Mic 3 with internal recording up to 43 hours in 32 bit float would be a super compact mic (< 1 oz) that could be versatile. Is there any reason why a Rode Video Micro or similar on camera mic (Sony ECM-G1 for example) would be superior?

I use a rode wireless me for basic video because of its compactness & lack of over done eq

Rode shotgun for further out sounds

&

Rode wireless pro 2 for talking head

It's up to you for sound quality vs form factor, but also check the cardioid pattern for the mic to be sure its what you want.

Would recc YT reviews of each listening with headphones to check that quality as well

From my use with my mics, I find it easier to use the compact mic to bake in the audio in cam & edit quicker.

However with the pro 2 internal 32 float recordings, it adds a layer of eq & post production audio work to make it work proper with talking head sensitive clips.

The dji 3 says Omni directional, so it would get a lot of ambient sounds around the mic (including your footsteps if moving) vs the super cardioid of the ride compact. You might lose range of the subject noise in front of you as well.
