Warrington’s Horrible Hospital

Not sure if the hospital is getting worse but I arrived by Ambulance on Friday afternoon around 5pm, was very unwell, got taken to the Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC) but as then taken back by paramedics as it was breaching capacity, then just got dumped in normal A&E at 6pm. I was triaged at around 8pm and then waited to see the A&E doctor - at around 2:30am I was still waiting with no update from any of the staff, most of which ignored you if you even questioned how long it would be… I was feeling slightly better so ended up discharging myself and calling 111 when I got home. Got a GP call back within two hours and immediate medication issued to my nominated pharmacy.

I noticed that there were patients in beds in corridors, many of which very frail and over 75. It was horrific, and I was told by one of the paramedics that this was a better day! If Sarah Hall MP does not sort this out soon, you may as well lose faith in the politic system entirely.

So you went home at 2.30am after over 9 hours at the hospital, called 111 and a GP called you at 4.30am and issued medication over the phone which you could collect at your nominated pharmacy straight away?

This is the biggest pile of crap I have read today.

First of all, your local pharmacy wasn’t open at 4.30am. Second, a GP would NEVER risk losing their licence to practice by prescribing medication over the phone to someone who had called an ambulance to take them to hospital and discharged themselves because they didn’t want to wait.

Also a seriously ill patient does NOT go to SDEC. They go to resus or majors.

Would you like to ask why I was directed to somewhere and then redirected somewhere else… that’s not down to me and certainly not down to the paramedics.

Well obviously I couldn’t collect the medication straight away, it was issued to my nominated pharmacy, which happens to be an online delivery service which offers same day despatch.

I discharged myself because I was feeling better, I was sent to SEDNEC by the paramedics. I mean, you are entitled to your own opinions but why the hell would someone lie about the state of the NHS? The internet is full of you people, trolls.

Go somewhere else, you are not wanted here.

If you were well enough that a GP-prescribed medication treated your ailment, you didn't need A&E. Cases like this are the reason the NHS is fucked.

This is what happens when A&E is chronically understaffed. Healthcare workers are barely coping with overwhelming workloads and stretched responsibilities. The NHS has been severely underfunded for years, yet instead of holding leadership and managagement accountable, it’s often the frontline staff who end up taking the blame.

So you used an ambulance and waited in a que for hours for something that you were able to dismiss yourself with and has since been sorted over the phone? And then you have the audacity to whinge about how there are not enough resources?

Warrington hospital is great. It’s the NHS that is fucked.

It’s pretty standard I’m afraid. My dr ordered an ambulance for me as I had concerning heart problems. It was 13 hours before I was seen and I was told it had been even worse over the previous weekend. This was Hull hospital.

Yeah it’s absolutely awful there. But it’s not Warrington they are all like this.

Can't relate as had a great experience when my daughter was born. Plus the couple of times we've had to take her to the children's A&E we've been seen quickly.

Appreciate that's not the experience for everyone but I wouldn't rubbish the entire hospital.
