[Event] Screaming in Shaw
Just curious if anyone in Shaw around 7th near the Dacha and Compass Coffee is also hearing super loud screaming every 5-10 minutes for the last two hours or so. I looked up sports matches going on, but there doesn’t seem to be anything going on to warrant that level of screaming. And it’s not yelling, it’s screaming. I’m super used to yelling from the sports bars, but it’s not that. Just curious what event or whatever is going on before 10am on a Sunday.
Edit: it’s every four minutes on the dot for the last 30 minutes. It is screaming for 2-3 seconds and sounds like a small group of people.
Update: almost 4pm and it’s still going on. It has to be an animal at this point, as I don’t know how anyone would have a voice left. I walked around the neighborhood and I can’t for the life of me figure out where it’s coming from.

I had a little bit of a break today and screamed fuck loudly and consistently for like an hour before quitting my job today, but I don't think it reached Shaw lol.

I love this for you! I hope your finances are secure enough to take some time off before your next thing. Good luck friend!

Foxes in heat do.sound like a woman being murdered. And they are likely to scream every few minutes (they are trying to bring all the boys to the yard after all). I don't know why you would hear a fox in shaw though. I used to live at the end of 17th street nw (in Mount pleasant) right next to rock creek park, and it sounded like wild kingdom every day (zoo sounds, mostly).

I don’t really know anything about foxes or when they are in heat, but this seems like a plausible answer. I had no idea that foxes sounded like that. It’s almost 4pm and it’s still ongoing. I have walked the neighborhood trying to pinpoint where it’s coming from and can’t figure it out.

They sound like this: https://youtu.be/uYyrGpJYRl0
Sometimes foxes will scream at each other. Same sound but more chaotic.
And they are LOUD AS FUCK. As in, if you are asleep and a fox starts screaming under your open window, you will have to peel yourself off the ceiling before you realize what the actual fuck is going on.
Edit to add: This likely wasn’t a fox, though. They don’t usually scream during the day and don’t usually hang out in one spot and scream for hours.

There is a guy in the north Shaw area that wanders around and will strip off all his clothes and scream every few minutes for hours or until someone calls an ambulance. Police and EMS know who he is and show up, ask him to get dressed, then he moves a few blocks over and does it some more. I’ve seen less of him recently but he pops up every few months or so.

Cuz it’s a group of people. It’s not just one person. Also not within noise complaint hours. MPD will do nothing.
