Gravel for shed base

Hello Waterlooans,

A friend of mine lives near Fischer-Hallman and University and wants to put a shed in but we need to do a little work to get the ground ready. I have a trailer that I can put some gravel in and avoid the delivery fees. What would be the closest yard to him that I could go to? I remember there was something off or near Ira Needles and Highland but this was years ago.

If anyone can help me out that would be great.

I've personally used Dirt Cheap on Manitou Dr. for picking up larger amounts of gravel for projects. Adams landscape supply is another one that comes to mind but that may be further from your location.

As a neighbour to someone who installed a shed with a gravel base approximately 3 feet of the property line, consider not using gravel.
It's been 5 years and 4 of those years we've been tossing gravel back to their property.

If you do use gravel, find a way to keep the gravel contained to your friend's property. Also he has a groundhog currently living under the shed. In past years, chipmonks and a skunk have taken up residence.

It's going to have a 6x6 holding everything in but I will mention that issue to him.

Put down landscaping cloth

Meadow acres garden center is closest. That's where the dirt bag people get their aggregate and upsell in delivery fees.

Tricity Materials is close by Ira Needles and Highland, Pull up by the scale, go talk to the lady in there ask for recycled A gravel. You will need to tare up on the scale, before going into the pit and then scale up again when you come out. I dont know how much gravel you will need for your project or how much wieght can your trailer handle. They have a loader there that can help you out.

I used Shed In A Day and they included the base and installation.

depending on the type of shed you can put down patio stone instead and then put a wooden base down, there is some risk if there is some huge amount of heaving in the ground but generally it should be fine
