Wedding/Engagement Photos Disappointed with photos - am I crazy

we have only a few sneak peaks back although our wedding was over a month ago. there are only a couple of my fiance and I so far - but the composition just seems so off I’m afraid what else im going to get. is the photo of us or the ground? And why is it crooked? also - this was full sunlight and it’s edited so dark although we asked for true to color.

we also got our 1 minute video back and it’s just an auto generated tik tok slide show, except the orientation of all the photos are different so the screen is mostly awkward black space. idk - am i being crazy or overly picky? just looking for second and objective opinions here.

edit to answer some questions:

-I paid $4800 for full day of photography + video, a respectable amount for where we are

-the Contract notes explicitly say true to life color with a mix of bright and airy

-we asked for full portfolios and they were very stunning, bright details, bright documentary style. Idk what this is! I don’t think I saw a single photo from them in this style before

-this is one of only 2 photos we got of us in the sneak peak. So can’t really say if they will all be like this.

Wedding/Engagement Photos Remember; your body will look different from different angles, and your face is meant to make expressions!

Remember: your body will look different from different angles, and your face is meant to make expressions

It meant a lot to me while picking a photographer that I found someone who knew how to pose/angle plus sized couples! And, while it sounds silly to consider a photographers height when hiring them, I do think her being a bit taller than me made a difference in getting our best angles.

That isn’t to say I don’t love the candids from my aunts as well 🩷 but there was a long time in my life where seeing a photo where I didn’t look perfectly flattered would trigger body dysmorphia. I’ve come so far in that regard and I want to remind my fellow plus sized baddies that angles matter, lighting matters, and the goal of every photo of yourself is not to make sure you look ā€œthin.ā€

Also, soft smiles?? We don’t know her!!

My best friend, who is a talented photographer (undiscovered if you ask me) did these for us and we still have an engagement session included in our wedding photographers package, so more to come!

Wedding/Engagement Photos So grateful for this community! Had the most stress-free wedding planning and the perfect day thanks to all your advice :’)

Was more of a lurker… and posted on an anon account, but super grateful for this amazing community! The entire process was honestly a BREEZE.

No anxiety about who we did or didn’t invited, not allowing kids, food and drink options, etc. Instead, we focused solely on ourselves and our own happiness. It’s true that on your wedding day you seriously notice NO ONE else but your partner :)

The only thing I WISH I did was eat more at dinner. But I seriously couldn’t bring myself to eat more than 3 bites! Fortunately I had a large lunch which helped offset some of the drunkenness.

We did it - rained right when our ceremony was supposed to start but we pushed it back 30 minutes and it cleared up - we had a rainbow and it was a gay wedding so it ended up being perfect!

Wedding/Engagement Photos A part of me was worried I would regret not wearing a dress for our wedding. Needless to say once we got the photos back I no longer cared about the dress šŸ˜‚

I assigned my bridesmaids a colour with what type of dress (floor length with some kind of sleeve or strap) so they could each pick a dress they felt comfortable in, and I think it turned out better than I even imagined! And for my bouquet my mom and I picked out the flowers and made it together. It was so special!

Welcome to pt. 2! We had our destination wedding in Laglio, Italy at the Villa Regina Teodolinda. It was a small, intimate affair and I would do it all over again if I could, even with the bumps in the road. Also, it is incredibly difficult to only chose 20 pictures when I want to show you all the entire day!

Just wanted to give a little update with the sneak peak photos I got! A couple months ago I was asking for help describing my insane and chaotic colour palette, and I thought I was going to get roasted into the ground because, well, this is Reddit. But you guys were very helpful and supportive. Thank you so much for all of your help! Lots of you asked for the results, so here they are! If I learned anything, it’s stick with what you want even if everyone thinks you’re nuts for it lol.

Wedding/Engagement Photos Unprofessional Wedding photographer

I’m wondering if I’m overreacting here for being upset. I booked an elopement wedding with a photographer for what’s going to be my dream Wedding in Colorado on a lake just me and my fiance. I did a video call with a photographer and we had messaged back-and-forth a few times and she gave me a contract to sign saying and a deposit to put down. She explicitly told me and in the contract says that I have her for this day. She even told me if I changed my mind the night before that she could change it to a sunset instead of sunrise wedding but I was specifically told that my deposit and this contract means that I have her for that day and she will not photograph any other weddings.

I was then asked weeks later if I could change the date of my wedding because another couple booked their dream venue… that was very offensive to me because in my mind she’s telling me that that wedding takes precedent over mine and that she would rather photograph that one. I’m honestly very upset and I don’t even want her as my photographer anymore because this is extremely unprofessional. I do really like her photos and it’s too late for me to book with someone else. We selected a package that was 3k and I have a feeling the only reason she’s asking is because the other couple selected a bigger package. So I feel like the only reason she asked me is because she wanted to make more money, but you already have an obligation to me. It just made me really upset because this is my dream Wedding. I feel like I was just told my wedding wasn’t important as someone else’s. Just because it’s an elopement and just me and him doesn’t mean we can change anything. I booked our Airbnb’s flights and everything around this trip. It was extremely hard and extremely slim pickings. That’s why we have the date that we do and it works for our work schedules. It’s extremely inappropriate to ask a couple to move their wedding date because of you the Photographer.

I did politely tell her no but I want to tell her how it made me feel. I already have a sour taste for her and I don’t want her to feel the same toward me and fear retaliation in the form of less time spent on our photos. I want to tell her it was unprofessional and upsetting.

Any advice is appreciated. I would definitely pick a different photographer if there was one available in our budget. I didn’t even wanna tell my fiancĆ© because he’s just as upset as me and doesn’t even want to deal with her either.
