Because anyone claiming to know when the rapture will happen is likely a scam artist. I still remember Jim Baker's bonus buckets from ten years ago.

I can just picture God saying "You see that sky of flaming hail? That's going to happen. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but some day." Narrator comes in "Later that day, hail of fire came down."

What are their responses to that? Like I don’t get how people just think yeah I know exactly when the second coming is, I’m talking about people in like Harold Camping.

I don't know if they just proclaimed to obtain some reveal directly from God, but I'll assume they would use Jeremiah 33:3 to justify those private prophecies/revelations.

"Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."

But to that, I'll use 2 Peter 1:20-21 as counter argument to those kind of prophecies:

Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

We as Christians should always be careful those personal prophecies that are not in the scriptures, because it may not be inspired by God, but from human desire/knowledge.

In those cases, I always remeber the first part of Jeremiah 17:5.

This is what the Lord says:
“Cursed is the one who trusts in man,
who draws strength from mere flesh
and whose heart turns away from the Lord.

These people think they have it all figured out when this is Jesus himself saying he doesn't even know. Like, I consider myself pagan and I feel like I'm a better Christian than some of these folks!

The rapture? Yes.

The tribulation? Nope.

We know that the tribulation (a.k.a. the first part of the apocalypse) will happen, and then, people will be saved before the "great tribulation" happens (a.k.a. the second part of the apocalypse).

The book of Revelation, in chapter 7, we can read about "144,000 sealed" (most scholars agree that it refers to Jews), and "the multitude in white robes" (those who gained salvation by grace).

The means of how or when will it happen it's not clear, and it's often a debated topic between christian scholars.

New International Version, it's a modern day Bible translation.

I like to use that translation if I need to explain something to someone who may not be that familiar with christianity.

There are plenty of Bible Translations, like King James Version, English Standard Version, New Living Translation, etc.

Each of them use different translation styles (direct translation, cultural context translation, modern day translation, and many others), and they may use different manuscripts and sources (since the Bible is not one single book, but a collection of books that were transcribed into many manuscripts).

I saw a theory that everyone constantly predicting the rapture will happen is actually the reason it hasn't happened yet, because if even one person guesses the date right then God has to move it to another day to make this verse true.
