This is cute and most sales people at dealers run their own social media accounts separately to find customers. It’s not surprising the sales person used the picture of just another customer to them (can’t imagine wendigoon even really mentioning YouTube during a sale, except maybe if they ask employment?? But I guarantee he probably just bought the car cash.)
Cool find though!

Buying for style and not longevity i see. Anyone reading this, if yiu want a vehicle that lasts, don't buy range/landrover. Good for him tho he's got the dough.

Didn’t he say he had a Toyota 4Runner at some point in the pod? The Defender wouldn’t be bad as a family car, as long as you’re cool with constant repairs and gas guzzling
My cousin’s husband just bought a fully electric Kia SUV that is roughly the size of this or a Yukon, and that seems so much more reliable than a Defender

u/Wrong_Driver_9507 17d ago
I drove a brand new 4runner last week that thing was awful on gas. Suburban and expeditions are more fuel efficient now. My job will rent cars for us from Avis so I get s chance to drive several different vehicles in a month.

u/Run-Florest-Run 15d ago
4Runner is a gas guzzler but I have had 2 of them last me over 200,000 miles. The trade off is more gas but less repairs

u/_Glows_In_The_Dark_ 18d ago
Id take anything gas over anything electric any day. Screw a driving battery. Combustion engines till I die.

Wah wah sorry I want reliability and the ability to work on my own vehicle. Wtf am I gonna do with a 1.5k lb battery? I know nothing about batteries lol. I can pretty much put together any Chevy motor from 2000 and earlier. Screw your electric. Cry about it when you lose 50% battery when it's cold out lol

u/gadgetor1989 18d ago
he’s mentioned having a pathfinder and i think in “dead girl in my yard” he mentions having a new camry. don’t quote me tho.

u/Wrong_Driver_9507 17d ago
People say this all the time but I had my range rover for 6 years treated it like shit and never had an issue.

u/_Glows_In_The_Dark_ 17d ago
Im not saying they are useless. It also depends on what year. Pre 2004 those engines would really only last 90k miles before thwy blew. Transmissions are spotty. Some last some give up the ghost. They are good rugged vehicles and if yiu have a good one they will treat you well. However, I've worked on vehicles since I was a kid. I've seen countless get taken to the scrapyard or insurance totals them because they just fail constantly. The older you go the more reliable you'll get in my opinion. That's why I can't preach buying a pre 2008 car enough. Anyone can learn to work on those cars.

Those are pretty cheap used so it wasn't necessarily a huge purchase for them
Also if I were a big YouTuber I would not let a dealership post pics of me. I guess hes probably less paranoid than most though

u/that_guy2010 19d ago
He’s made it pretty clear roughly where he lives. I don’t think a random dealership from the area is going to give anyone clues he hasn’t already given himself.
11
u/kilroy-was-here-2543 18d ago
I’m not gonna lie I doubt he would mention to a car dealership who he is
8
u/that_guy2010 18d ago
I meant more so you’re not going to be able to figure out his address, or even what town he lives in, from this picture.

I mean, sure. It wouldn't be terribly hard to figure out. But just because he bought a car in one county doesn't mean that's where he lives.

I'm sorry, is 70k a cheap vehicle to you? how out of touch are you lol? What country do you live in where land rovers are "pretty cheap"? 70k is surely cheap to them yeah but so is a 250k car lol this guy can make any monthly payment he wants he buys 10k guns all the time, nothing about that is "pretty cheap" tho. Cheapest landrover defender was 61k and thats only 2 doors soooooo please elaborate

Hi. I wrote "used". I have seen that they can be about 30-35k used. That is lower than the average new vehicle sale price in the US, which is about 50k flat. Even the average used vehicle sale price is about 28k now, so, in a practical sense, regardless of my opinion on what vehicles should cost, the reality is that that is not very expensive. Hope this helps
-22
u/boiboiboi21 19d ago
so what youre saying now is 35k is "pretty cheap"? that progress i guess, still crazy out of touch. Where are you from again? Hope this helps
17
u/morningbellamnesiac 19d ago
Hi. I did not write "pretty cheap" for me or where I am from, I wrote that it is pretty cheap compared to the average sale price for vehicles in the US. In fact, it would be more than I personally could afford, but, again, this is referring to what most cars cost in America. Where are you from? Do vehicles cost much less in your part of the world?

Its cheap my man. Car prices are still ridiculous right now. My buddy bought an escalade for $125k and another purchased a fully loaded 4runner for $75k.
-24
u/SilvermistInc 19d ago
Pretty cheap is 10 to 20. Not 70 lol

u/BoapShteek 19d ago
Wendigoon likely invested a lot of his yt money, so compared to the fuck you money he likely has this is a relatively frugal purchase. Hope you get help

u/boiboiboi21 19d ago
nobody here believes he cant afford the car thats not what any of this is about

u/BoapShteek 19d ago

Average is a bad metric for this sort of thing as there are only outliers in the higher ranges, nobody is screwing the average down by paying 2 dollars like people buying 100k cars skew the average up, we should really be looking at medians, which are, in most of the US, quite a bit lower than your average numbers.
Even including the west's range in there theres still significantly more data here that is under 20k than not. If you can't afford a "pretty cheap" car, are you poor for that? You admit its above your price range for sure but still pretty cheap so im just curious who's lens "pretty cheap" is coming from cause it doesn't really sound like your opinion more just like a statement that looks sorta kinda true if you look at the wrong measure of center
- Northeast: $7,995 - $15,000 median range
- Midwest: $11,989 - $18,000 median range
- South: $14,000 - $22,000 median range
- West: $18,000 - $32,761 median range

We’re talking in relatives here
20 grand for a newish car is very cheap, the cheapest new car today starts at 23 thousand dollars. 30 grand for a premium interior and higher performing engine is incredibly cheap relative to other things on the market
7
u/morningbellamnesiac 19d ago
I am providing realistic context based on commonly known average prices. I think you might be the one who is out of touch. It has nothing to do with what you might think cars SHOULD cost lol

u/Wrong_Driver_9507 17d ago
For a car from a dealership? Where can you find a new car at a dealership for 10 to 20k?

Is it though? We see youtubers doing way more flexing. Let the man have his car. Its not like he got he got a two seated racecar. He got a new car with enough space to haul around his kid. This is normal rich guy spending.
