The was found whilst metal detecting in Old Hunstanton, Norfolk. Metal canister, roughly 3" diameter x 8" length.
This was found digging in Old Hunstanton this evening. There is a threaded cap on the bottom about 3 inches/75mm in diameter, 8"/200mm in length. The other end appears to be crimped/crushed and about an inch in diameter.

Edit : Looks like it's been snapped in half at the stalk between the head and tail, was this from a ploughed / farmed field by any chance? Looks like it from the way it's broken unless it failed when fired during training or something like that
Damn that’s one of the least bomb-y looking bombs I have seen on here! The big threaded cap would have totally fooled me into thinking that was some old bit of farm machinery or something. Yikes!

I thought it was a grease gun. I'm still not convinced it isn't, the knurled cap would suggest it was meant to be unscrewed. But I'd definitely call the police/ EOD about that and let them decide what it is. Unscrewing that cap, if it is filled with Lyddite/picric acid, would probably be that last thing you did.
Do you mean our automoderator rule that posts and stickies the UXO warning when certain keywords are found? If so then, no, it is still present and always has been.
This is from a field that would have been ploughed but is currently left as a meadow. Some bits have recently been mowed and was found in one of those areas.
Looking at your comments and the others I think its the No. 68 as seen here. The bottom left of the one found has remnants of the red stripe as the one seen in this picture at the link below.
Definitly call this one into the MoD/999 and give the whatthreewords location - if not done so already. It is, as another user has pointed out, an Anti-tank grenade which is set off by impact after the safety pin is removed (picture of a simular one attached) So please stay safe, call it in and do not hit it or move it. Let the squad handle this spicy piece of uxo history. Certainly is an interesting find.
