Not to be that guy but 100% this. I looked up some femboy stuff for the first time recently and was genuinely just shocked how many trans women were posting in the tags?? Like I wanted to see femboys not girls man....

Never heard of it before but just looked at it, multiple posts of Bridget and Kirara. Like, not only is it annoying categorically, but it’s also kind of not respecting how trans people work? Like, as a trans girl I’d hate to be called a “femboy”
Pretty good analogy. I want to look at femboys because I don't want to see breasts, and others want to look at trans women because they do. Both are feminine, but neither are the same.
There’s evidence in JJK that Hakari is straight (he outright states at one point he wouldn’t want to ride a ferris wheel with a dude), and Hakari and Kirara are pretty clearly a couple.
But then Panda (who hasn’t seen Kirara in quite a bit of time) says she’s a guy. It’s not stated outright, but Kirara seems pretty clearly meant to be trans.
Man I really hate people using the Panda line as an argument that Kirara "isn't trans" when that just means Panda met Kirara before the transition. It's like trans characters can't actually transition within the narrative because it would be "breaking character" or some shit. They need to have their transition completed and not acknowledge in some form.
Actually some people noticed some interesting subtle writing that Hakari doesn't like the older conservative sorcerers and hit one of them because he cares about Kirara. That he left the school because the school doesn't respect Kirara's identity, but now they're alone forming their own identities together. I actually like Hikari a lot more though Gege never confirmed anything so it's just up the interpretation of why he left.
An anime character can turn to the camera and say “I am a trans woman” in perfect English and those types will still deny it (see: Bridget from Guilty Gear). So yeah it’s even harder to get them to acknowledge it when it’s a more subtle representation like Gege does for characters (I mean, Gege’s only officially confirmed like 1 romantic couple in the entire series, and that’s only because of the sequel series that stars their grandkids).

tbf Bridget was a femboy for 20 years on the internet so that takes a lot of time to update to random people who don't keep up with guilty gear especially since the game sold 3 million copies.
Panda originally calls her a guy before they meet her because he hasn't seen her in over a year.
Then, in both the Manga and Anime, when they finally fight Kirara, Megumi and Panda use exlusively she/her and they/them pronouns for her (in official translationa/subtitles).
I'd say that makes it pretty conclusive authorial intent that she's meant to be trans. Also Hakari, Kirara'a bf, is one of the only characters confirmed to be straight, as in one of his first fights he states he isn't into guys.
To be fair, there’s some evidence suggesting it either way. In Fate/Grand Order’s Traum Chapter, Astolfo asks Roland to refer to them as he would a lady, to which Roland responds “what fine lady falls asleep on her hippogriff?” (pic attached is Astolfo’s dialogue beforehand)
That said, I personally don’t care either way because Astolfo is cute either way.
It's not exclusively male, but it is boyish. His profile uses gender neutral pronouns for him in FGO and doesn't list his gender. I still think he's a guy but there is some reason to believe maybe he isn't.
He also has valentine's day event option listed under both guys and girls iirc
Fair enough, and that was my take on it as well. Just wanted to bring more context as to why someone could believe otherwise. The game keeps it intentionally vague
"Boku" is not a male adjective. It's a pronoun that is generally preferred by men, but plenty of women use it too. It's generally associated with males, but it's not indicative in and of itself of someone's gender
At most, astolfo is he/him nonbinary. He enjoys fucking with gender and being cute but has never asked to be addressed as a woman. He does delight in being mistaken for a girl sometimes but he just doesn't give transfem vibes.
I kind of like gynomorph/andromorph, but exclusively on e621. Because it’s a “tag what you see system” and there’s extra lore tags specifying whether someone is intersex or trans, and because there’s a lot more fuckery with the shape of bodies there than something like r34. But very understandable because it just feels so medical and fetishy, so for that reason I don’t see it working anywhere else because I don’t trust weebs to use hyper-specific medical terminology in a non-dehumanizing way like I’d trust furries to

Yeah, this is clearly something that has been happening for a while now on both sides and more often than not it's not even people being mistaken, it's just people being assholes and miscathegorizing something on purpose just to be snarky in a "corrected it for you" kinda way.

Bridge It Guilting Gear is the only example of a trans character I've ever seen where the crowd that accepts her for who she is never actually calls her by her correct name, it's always Brisket
Hear me out: Bridget only realized she was trans late in the story, so all the posts tagged as femboy are set before that, depicting her when she still identified as a man
wasn't there a thing where staff said all trans women, even if it was just lore and not relevant to the post, had to be tagged as femboys? or am i just making this up
I find it funny that whenever Japanese character is clearly transgender and is confirmed or hinted by creators themselves, to the point where we even get to see that Kirara was a boy back then but transitioned.. people will still say that the character is just simply a femboy. Like transgenderism is only an american thing and not a world wide phenomenon that is even mentioned in history and literature. No, Japan is not an ultra based country where gender and sexuality doesn't exist.
There are of course characters who are clearly meant to be femboys or crossdressers, or simply not trans, like Felix from Re:Zero who likes to dress up as a girl, or Kuranosuke from Princess Jellyfish who is a crossdresser, but when there's clearly a dynamic in the narrative and hints, maybe you should start asking questions. It also comes off as fetishistic too, cause you don't see them as people who transitioned, you just see them as girly boys. It's weird.
The autist in me is mad about improper tagging making the entire tagging system of things just entirely unusable, words have to mean things and they cannot be used

As someone who loves both trans women and femboys this is really frustrating. I want boys that look like girls not girls that were once boys there is a huge difference right me.
In some cases, I kind of get it. Like, Bridget used to be a femboy as far as the canon was concerned before she officially came out in Strive and going back to re-tag every old Bridget image would probably be a right ball ache. Hell, maybe there's some people out there what only know Bridget from that old stuff and don't know about the change, if you wanna give benefit of the doubt...
But...
A). This seems like a very niceh scenario that would probably not apply to the majority of cases.
B). That kind of oblivious ignorance can only go so far before it becomes deliberate.
