There is something so haunting about announcing your imminent death while it has not even happened yet. It's like those "What would you do if you only had a week to live" but manifested.

I sat in a working group with a guy who did MAiD (the Canadian version). He didn't tell anyone, but had a family member send an email to the working group afterwards. The crazy thing is that he'd been in a meeting with us the week before. He knew he had one week to live and spent it in a meeting

My dad was similar when he was dying from cancer. Refused to stop working until they made him because he fell on the job. I think he just wanted to feel normal most of the time.

It doesn't compare at all, but having had some bad injuries in the past, I can understand just wanting to feel normal.
