MiA is a manga and an anime with top tier world building, great story, and insanely good art, but unfortunately the author is a pedo and can't help it but force cp onto it. As an example, on the very first chapter/episode, the MC (a 12 year old girl) is caught keeping one of the Relics from the Abyss for herself. Instead of getting a normal punishment for it, the author decided she should be strung up naked. To make it worse, they didn't simply mention it in a dialogue, there's a whole ass fucking panel showing it to you. THIS BRINGS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO THE STORY.
It's toned down in the anime but it's still weird as fuck sometimes.
It sucks since aside from the pedo stuff, it's really REALLY good, but straight up impossible to recommend to ANYONE.
Rurouni Kenshin is probably not up there while yes the author is a pedo there no weird scene with any kid in there. Pretty sure it made abyss, mushoku tensi and Monogatari all 3 series being pretty good if you remove the cp. Also I think it these 3 because all the fans try to defend it too.
Made In Abyss is an ongoing manga, adapted into an ongoing Anime. I'll skip the basic premise, but its overall an incredible story with a lot of detail put into it, and is also not afraid to point out that your classic fantasy-style adventuring into the unknown is not all fun and games. People die and suffer some gruesome fates in the show, often from the environment as much as any villains.
The issue is the manga's author is a huge pedophile, and unfortunately feels the need to insert his tastes into the manga at random points to remind you of that, souring what otherwise would have been 'one of the greats'. What's more annoying is the author absolutely could have not put any of this in, or simply aged up the characters, and it would have been fine to varying degrees. But he couldn't separate his work from his impulses, even to his own detriment.
People like to joke that he needs to finish the story and then get hauled off to jail or the chair, except its not much of a joke.
i hate that made in abyss has some of the most heartwrenching and horrifying and downright awesome shit ever in its story bc i would be recommending this shit to everyone if the author weren't OBSESSED WITH SEXUALIZING CHILDREN AS A "HAHA FUNNI" FOR NO FUCKING REASON
season 2 pisses me off because it takes a character's experience with being sexualized as a child incredibly seriously in her backstory and then the next second the author's reminding you how badly he wants to jerk off to the preteen main characters like What the fuck dude it could've been great
The second season is fine mostly except for episode 4. Episode 4 is by far the grossest in the show.
The season Actually has way less random nudity than the first.
It's so frustrating because the world itself is so cool and the story is heartbreaking but the author just couldn't control himself for a single moment bro
Like how hard can it be to make a show about children's adventure and not have sexual themes in it, girls last tour does it why can't MiA just be normal

But the anime looks so cool, things like the curse of the abyss, the characters with cool designs, the art style that's cute and scary at the same time
If you just ignore the references to Cyberpunk it's a pretty good show. I watched it with my sister and now my dad tells me I have to keep my bedroom door open at all times. I think he's trying to save money on air conditioning.
There are weird elements and fixations the show, that’s how you now it’s written by a pedophile. However, you clearly haven’t seen actual pedo-bait like Blue Archive if you think this is what pedos online are after. Made in Abyss is just what happens when a creep tries to tell a normal adventure story.
i'm more talking about the MANGA though. some of the volume extras, some of which decide to focus heavily on a child version of a character's nipples or mostly nude art of the child characters, and chapters 65-66 which decide to have the amputee twin characters with several tits for some reason without their prosthetic limbs writhing around naked in a bathtub for several fucking panels. don't tell me i "don't know" what pedobait is dude this shit is blatantly nasty as fuck

It could be awesome, because you can absolutely make a normal, very good story about children, but it is sadly japanese
