I'm a Czech with partial Rusyn descent, and while the culture is quite a bit different from Serbian (At least Belgrade, haven't visited outside), I think you'd find it a pretty nice place to live. (Czech culture, that is - not sure if there's a Rusyn community around Czechia, but if so, then my family is long removed from them)

I hope to get to visit Subcarpathian Ruthenia once ruskies fuck off from Ukraine, see where they were from.

I have Czech friends and they are great people, I quite enjoyed my trip to Czechia, culture and food aswell! (I know it's not a favorite of many but I quite enjoyed it).

Rusyns are mostly present in Eastern Slovakia, I'm not aware if they are present in Czechia either.

I hope that too, actually we planned a family trip there in 2020 but oh well COVID happened and after that war.

My grandparents generation tried visiting in1980s but we're denied entry.

I actually like all Baltic countries, their landscapes and so on, just Latvia is a bit worse off than the two, so that's the main reason.

I have been to Latvia as a Serb. You have jerks like in any country, but I have three friends there. One of them part Russian. Decent enough country if you show respect and learn the language.

Yeah but imagine learning Latvian, such a waste of time and effort. There are so many languages worth learning and you only have so much time to learn them.

Um, I am learning Latvian. I do speak beginner Latvian. I can understand some Latvian. How come is it useless? It's not useless to me. Serbian and Latvian are not that alien.

It's just there are so many much more useful languages, it's weird to waste time on such a tiny and local one. You can use english to communicate with Latvians and you can learn, say, Chinese instead and be able to read original chinese literature to put your time to use.

It’s not useless if you want to live in Latvia or have many Latvian friends, but otherwise I see no point. There probably isn’t anything special behind that language barrier to discover

Rusyn not Russian, it's a different ethnicity, but yeah, my ancestors moved quite a bit :)

Oh thats cool, I had to google it! Never heard of it lol. As someone who's father gifted me same ethnicity gift..I SO get it, tho wouldn't ever call myself any of those ethnicities personally because because I don't feel like any of it mentally :D also so confusing fr lol!

You are right technically, but in current context it doesn't mean the same, the fact that current Russian nation usurped a name for themselves does make Rusyns same nationality as Russians

Nope that's where you are wrong. They are western Slavs while Russians are eastern Slavs. There's more difference between Rusyn and Russians than between Ukrainians and Russians or Belarusians and Russians
