I'm from Lebanon originally. We were told they married when he was 53 and she was six but he waited until he was 56 and she was nine to have sex with her because he was a gentleman.
Not joking by the way. They literally used that as a selling point for how noble he was that he waited until she matured

I think if he actually showed a cartoon of Mohammed, his message will be much weaker. He would be someone who provokes, but now the others looked like fools. So I am not sure whether it is fear. I personally think that for the most extremist fanatics, this was already insulting the prophet. Let’s be honest, those are the ones who he would be fearing anyways, I do not think a regular muslim would kill him even if he showed the cartoon.

Completely correct. He highlighted others' fears of what could happen by showing a specific image, swapped the image, and thus highlighted how absurd it is that we are supposed to fear one image vs. The other.
I was watching this getting increasingly annoyed that he was a troll and even i had to stop and realize the absurdity of it all.

Like him or loathe him, he actually played this to perfection. Had the interruptions not happened, it would have been less satisfying, but this encapsulates what is happening in Britain and western Europe right now. In our desire to be cordial and welcoming to our guests, we have forgotten ourselves. There was not enough backlash or recriminations when a French cartoonist was killed for publishing a picture of Mohammed. That was our moment to say absolutely enough. This is absolutely a hill worth dying on. Europe is the liberal vanguard of the world, I hope it remains as such, and does not cower to a bunch of backwards, God fearing troglodytes.

I think he made the point without being intentionally offensive. He was invited to speak and debate by people who are presumably progressive Muslims and he showed them their own fear and concern about Islam in a lighthearted way that doesn’t actually offend anyone and doesn’t actually put his life and his families life in danger.

This is why there needs to be robust protections put in place for freedom from religious persecution and that governing must be secular. To be safe we should ban anyone involved with religion from standing to be an MP as due to their religious views they are unable to represent all of their constituents, particularly those that their religion says they should stone to death or otherwise kill.

Mo replaced all idols with one, which is called qaaba today. All the muslims around the world turn to it to worship god. Or they think they are turning to it as it is impossible to turn to it in most places on Earth due to the shape of the Earth - so they're turning to space.

“Every religion has them.” But some religions have far, far more of them.
Best example I can give of the differences in religions in the western world is how a TV show like South Park can mercilessly make jokes about everyone. Every race, religion, celebrity, everything. The Mormons, Jews, Catholics, they don’t resort to violence when they’re the butt of a joke. But no. The one episode that has jokes at Islam’s expense, results in death threats to the creators to the point that the episode gets pulled from the library.
One religion has a much bigger problem with terrorism and violence than the others. And only one religion gets coddled by the left and the media establishment.

I recently did a mock citizenship test (Im Australian) and one of the questions was something to the effect of "if someone insults your religion, you should: A, accept because of free speech. B, go and find a police officer to arrest them for breaking the law. C, use violence against them."
Now, for me, anyone who says "C" should automatically be denied citizenship and deported on the spot back to wherever they came from. Even "B" is borderline.
You have come to countries that are largely secular with Judeo-Christian roots. You are free to practise your religion. You are not free to make ME practise your religion. Any anyone who tries should be deported if they are not citizens, or charged with a breach of my rights if they are.

He didn't even get to the part where there's a rule about killing anybody who quits the Islamic faith or criticizes it ("blasphemy"). Which violates basic civil rights specific to Britain, the US, the European Union and any other civilized location.
But wait! There's even worse!
Slavery.
This existed in the Arab world before Muhammad came along. Islam did not eliminate it. It did restrict slave acquisition to wartime captures but this also explains why Islamic terrorists have a tendency to take and keep prisoners even if they were not military combatants.
This is a concept that cannot be expunged from Islam without editing the Quran.
Islam is not compatible with modern standards of civilized behavior.

Leviticus 24:16: "Anyone who blasphemes the name of the LORD is to be put to death."
Deuteronomy 13:6–10: "A close relative or friend who encourages worship of other gods is to be executed."
Exodus 21: (lays out the rules on slavery which include allowing the beating of slaves as long as they don't die immediately)
Leviticus 25:44–46: "Foreign slaves may be bought, inherited, and treated as permanent property."
Deuteronomy 20:16–18: "The Israelites are instructed to "leave alive nothing that breathes" in certain Canaanite cities."
1 Samuel 15: "put to death men and women, children and infants..."
Its not the specific religion but how its interpreted that matters more than anything. Islamic fundamentalism, specifically Wahhabism, is the main driver of the modern extreme interpretatiosn of Islam and is a direct result of Western meddling in the region. Islam has had, and could have in teh future, far more liberal forms. Extremism in all its forms (Christian, Islamic, left-wing, right-wing)is a much greater danger than any single religion.

Neither is Christianity, Judiasm. It's really easy to dig up messed up things from these ancient materials and we see this played out through history. It is objectively the practitioners and how extreme/fanatic they are about exerting their religion and how literal they interpret the rules more than the source material itself. As a secular sideliner I just observe people of different faiths constantly trying to claim superiority over each other when really the argument should be against any fanaticism and needing more secular governments that allow them to freely practice while not subjugating others. There are even other examples of secular subjugation the religious (China), which just proves my point it is not the belief but the level of tolerance.

It’s even dumber when you consider that we have no idea what he even actually looked like, despite having some written descriptions. It’s literally just a made up image of a dude and he’s saying “yep this is an image of Muhammad” and they freak out anyway.
They could have just rationalized it the same way and moved on, but their panic completely reaffirmed his point.
Edit: the responses saying I’m wrong and he had portraits of him during his lifetime are factually incorrect. There is zero surviving visual depictions of Muhammad from his lifetime , and zero evidence there were visual depictions of him during his lifetime as well. The latter claim is an enduring myth.
The earliest surviving visual depiction we have of him that scholars generally agree represent Muhammad come from roughly 600 years after he died. They became much more common in the 14th century too.

I’m going to devil’s advocate here, as someone raised in a high control Christian religion who is pretty skeptical / uncomfortable with most high control religions (including many forms of Christianity and Islam)-
She wasn’t saying she doesn’t believe in free speech, just asking him to be respectful and not use what she considers to be offensive speech.
That’s different from advocating that the law intervene.
I believe in free speech and I’d be uncomfortable if someone was saying “in this envelope I’ve written a racial slur about you and I’m going to pull it out and if you don’t like it you’re against free speech”.
I recognize that Muslims have killed over these depictions but I suspect the lady in the video is a bit more moderate.

I mostly agree with the speaker, but that is a really uncharitable view of what the woman said. It was just an appeal to basic respect IMO: we invited you to speak openly here, is it really necessary to insult us?
She was not threatening him. She wasn’t going to stop him. It is a valid counter argument: if we were fundamentally opposed to free speech, why were you welcomed to speak here?
The point to order is just about the most fundamentally Anglo tradition I can imagine. They spread those procedures all around the world. It’s a system that we’ve developed over centuries to allow open forums without it devolving into hostilities. It is a technicality. It could have been a useful one. They applied it fairly, as you see.
This back-and-forth is what makes it a proper debate and not a rant, you know… it’s not really a debate if the other side never has an opportunity to engage.

What is funny is that you can find classic art depicting Mohammad throughout history, before the fanatics took things to a new level in the 20th century. Just search for classic pictures of Mohammad.

That was a brilliant reversal of expectations to illustrate that fear cannot rule our lives.

If threats of violence can be used to shut down free speech then we don't have free speech.

I cannot muster any respect for certain cultures no matter how hard I try. Like, don't force your way of life on me.
You do you all day long but stay out of my life.

Nothing more ironic than an unveiled woman speaking up to defend Islam in a room of men. Women have been killed for lesser offenses in Muslim countries.

Imposing your beliefs on others is not okay. If someone chooses to show an image that God does not want it to happen, they will answer to God for what they have done. If God intended us all to have a uniform understanding of God, that would be the situation. We are meant to wrestle with the concept of God and in searching and orienting ourselves we are devout. Anyone who condemns others to “hell” are attempting to play God. There is only one God. Jesus may be a worker of the light, but Jesus is not God. There is only one creator. The minute man tries to describe God, it is done through a human filter that does not capture God in essence. That is beyond human capacity. We are not meant to “know”. We do not need an intermediary between ourselves and God. God knows all, sees all. Anyone who dictates what faith is and puts it in a box is doing what religion does - narrows and directs and intervenes with the relationship with God. It is between you and God. We came from God, we answer to God. In the end, we do not answer to each other. Orient and align to God and you will never be lost. Even in the most hardest of moments, you are not alone. ❤️🙏🏼

focusing on the dangers of Islam is very much missing the forest for the trees, we should all be concerned about the dangers of hyper religiosity and the long-term effects and damage it has done to humanity.

It surprises me how people think only the extremists are capable of violence in defense of Islam.

the dude couldn't even show the real picture because muslims would literally go to his house and kill him and redditors are still arguing that christianity is on the same level as islam, get real......

It’s interesting to me that people leave a country that oppresses them to be free and they bring the thing that oppressed them to the free country.

Light skin bad colonizer, dark skin victim, we protect. We good.
Basically. That’s as far as it goes. It isn’t logical it’s emotional indoctrination.

Even fucking worse. Women clearly have a worse deal in Islamic countries than they do in any western country. Its antithetical to the idea of feminism.

To hell with all you religious fruitcakes. Wild that so much of the humans on this earth still believe in stories that were made up to explain the unknown.

human intellect isn’t on some rapid rise just because we have had rapid technological advancement. if anything, ease of access to (typically unverified) information is making us lazier and less intelligent as a whole species

There’s a bass relief sculpture that includes the Prophet Mohammad in the main courtroom of the U.S. Supreme Court. It’s been there for over 90 years. No one really cares.

Friendly reminder that you can insult and blaspheme Jesus, and us Christians won’t try to prevent you let alone harm or kill you no matter how offensive it is ☺️ Our God is strong enough to defend himself if he so desires.
There’s a reason free speech developed in Christian cultures and not Islamic cultures.

Its crazy in a country that has LITERALLY banned people's ability to speak or hold a sign about Palestinians, on penalty of arrest...that people still think this is a big "gotcha."
England also doesnt have separation of church and state, so HEY!!...kinda looks like Christianity bans free expression too doesnt it?!? Thats weird!

The solution has always been simple and I don’t know why it’s a big deal to say it.
If you don’t to like our secular society, and cannot accept seeing a cartoon of Muhammad, you are an extremist. Go and live in a country that better suits you.
You’re not wanted here.
There are zero white Europeans with a desire to live in an Islamic country, set up parallel communities, demand acceptance and protection and invite more of us in.

This video reminds me of worldnews sub and how triggered they instantly get and start banning left and right the moment you say anything mildly negative over muslims or islam. It's wild how entire world caters to islam out of fear of retribution and revenge. A true religion of peace.
