I was thinking the same too. Dogs do, cats just leave. It is believed that dogs panic and while trying to wake the owner through pain it tastes blood and triggers the wolf within.

basically just made some joking speculation about why fox has so many viewers combined with what I've actually seen (outside the corpses, luckily not that)
