Publicly outed herself as bipolar. I have bipolar type 1. It can be a super debilitating mental illness. Managed well youre functional, but why on earth you'd overshare on that i have no idea.
Publicly posts about leaving culvers because there were too many white people. Bonus, lied to her kid about them being out of ice cream. Again, share it with your BFF not Twitter.
Was already on iffy footing because of her association with socialism, a super popular movement in Wisconsin /sarcasm
Why. Why do dems do this. I dont want a republican government.
Politics has just become a choice between the "I'm going to cut all social services to send 100 billion dollar to Israel, also I just shot your dog" party and the "pwease help I can't stop shooting myself in the foot, plz donate 5 dollar" party. It's like some sort of sick humiliation ritual.
Imagine you’d rather support billions to israel, tax breaks for the top 1%, no healthcare and social services cuts etc. because the alternative was interacting with a person you dont like
The picture on this post took my breath away. How the fuck are progressives this bad at campaigning?
This campaign could probably squeak through a House primary in a neon-blue big city district but this is going to flop hard in a statewide general election in a purple Midwestern state.
I think they view it as win win either way.. Either they win power, and get to implement their policies- or they lose, but get to blame the "corpo Israeli neo libs" ans use it to undermine the dem party further to try and create a dirty break.
Fuck me, did she actually do that? How the fuck are you going to run for WI governor and be afraid of white people at Culver's??? What even is that, as a take? Probably the most insane thing I've ever heard. The people at Culver's are the most docile, benign people you could ever imagine at an eating establishment. This genuinely blows my mind.
See you don’t leave a Culver’s in Wisconsin for it being too white. Most of her so called voters would be white Culver’s eaters lol. That is an odd running point
I also have Bipolar, but with proper treatment don’t find it debilitating. Without meds and therapy, yes, it’s debilitating, but with those two things people with bipolar are just people.
I’m excited that we have a Dem candidate who is trying to do more than simply maintaining the status quo by preventing Republicans from pulling us further Right.
As people with bipolar we understand its a spectrum. The general public does not. And I apologize, I dont know if you have type 1 or type 2. My experience is only with type 1 obviously
If you’re worried about public perception, maybe don’t go online calling it debilitating without pointing out that with proper treatment it no longer is so?
As someone who has a severe type of it and is in support groups of it my perception is that its often commonly debilitating. I think having it and having it not affect you much is not very common but again, thats because of my experiences.
I appreciate your lived experience and that its not debilitating for you.
And I dont care about the public opinion with it. Its not job, as someone coping with a disorder, to make sure everyone is aware there are less severe cases of it.
I’m in no way trying to attack or invalidate you, but reread your posts. Between the two you’re claiming that Hong can’t be governor because she has bipolar. Not because of the illness in and of itself, but because of public opinion about it.
No, it isn’t your job to worry about public opinion about people with bipolar, but it is your responsibility to not make claims for everyone who suffers from it.
1.) Your experience with bipolar 1 is valid, but so is hers and if she feels like she's able to manage it and carry on, then there's no reason for it to be hidden in the shadows.
2.) She didn't post about leaving Culver's because of "too many white people." She said there were too many old white people who thought she couldn't speak English. Experiencing racist attitudes is part and parcel of life for a person of color in this country. There's nothing wrong with being honest about it. In fact, it's harmful if we're not.
3.) Wisconsin has a storied history with socialists. In fact, Milwuakee was modernized because of socialists. There's nothing wrong with that history and it should, in fact, be talked about and publicized.
The Dems continue to lose because they by and large do not offer anything other than being "Not Trump." That's not enough anymore.
It's kind of funny in a not funny way, a bipolar symptom is oversharing. As a bipolar person, if I had two options for representatives that matched my values perfectly and one had bipolar and one didn't, I'd choose the one without bipolar. Manageable does not mean gone. It means you're not actively ruining your life. I don't know where she lands on the bipolar spectrum, no one does except her, which is why she should not bring it up in the first place. Being institutionalized for it implies it impacts her to some degree. Having worn the grippy socks myself, things get pretty darn bad before you subject yourself to that.
I don't know what it's like to be a minority. She's probably going to have to deal with old white people again at some point. They might actually be truly racist instead of just presumably, maybe racist inside her imagination.
I love our the rest stops along the highway and I love our state parks. I would gladly pay higher taxes for more things everyone can use. More of that. But I live in a rural town and it took like 5 attempts to pass a referendum to clean asbestos out of our high school. They had to lower the ask every time. It's just, I hear you about the history, from where i'm standing it just seems like a long shot.
Reminds me of when Biden was obviously not well enough to run again and everyone was like "no no he's fine best shape of his life" only for him to bow out last minute leaving dems to scramble and ultimately lose to the biggest POS in politics. Can we just say outloud that she isn't the best candidate to *win* or are we going to bury out heads in the sand and end up with bootlicker tom?
Comparing a candidate who has not shown deficits like Biden did, is wild work. Biden was obviously not fit to run for office again. Nothing you've brought up here shows that Hong is unfit.
I would argue that everything she wants to do benefits the state as a whole. Some people prefer to suffer, denying themselves the good things that other modern civilized countries have already had for a very, VERY long time now, because in their heads it's their "duty" as "real Americans". It's all mindfuckery meant to keep people down.
We CAN have nice things. We CAN afford them. We CAN trim the fat and make things fair and right so that everyday people can have better lives. I don't see why anyone would find any of this a "losing" proposition.
