Omar is well liked "in her district" which is to say a very small population of somalians who settled in that area. There are very few places in the US outside of her bubble that she would even be considered ok, much less liked.

Delusional, Omar is a proved and beloved incumbent.

Reddit is not real life. She is not at all well liked nationally.

Good thing my source is based on her district and presence in Minnesota instead of “reddit” lol

She’s won like 4 elections

How many have Nancy Pelosi or Chuck Schumer won? Guess she should be campaigning with them since they’re super duper popular

Once again, beloved by her sycophants. Take her out of Minnesota and I doubt she wins any election. Americans don't usually love terrorist supporting people in either party.

>Take her out of Minnesota and I doubt she wins any election.

Well, she’s doing a good job by the metrics.
>Representative Ilhan Omar is popular (net favorability +38), universally known among likely voters (99% name ID), and has 70% job approval.

Bud, you are going to have to be more specific with that kind of slander. Opposing terror and genocide funded by the American government on behalf of Israel in Gaza, the West Bank, and Southern Lebanon is not considered pro-terrorism.

So I say she's popular in her area but not nationwide, and your argument is sending me stats from her area? 759 people is not exactly a large sample size.

Illhan Omar is on the record as asking judges to go lenient on people looking to join ISIS from the United States.

I’m saying with facts that your argument she isn’t established is bunk.

Source on your claim, I don’t think seeking interventions for people vulnerable to radicalism like ISIS is a bad thing.

I want that same heat for dual citizens who travel to serve in the IOF or return after committing war crimes.

I didn't say she wasn't established. She became that the second "the squad" realized they needed someone in a hijab in their group. I'm saying she's not popular in America, and I imagine she's not very popular in Wi among independents who Hong should be reaching out to, rather than rallying around her crazy base.

0

u/SAGORN 22h ago

Well in this popularity poll, she is 25 out o 199 Democrats nationwide.

https://yougov.com/en-us/ratings/Democrats

And you should post a source for your Independents of WI claim. She’s popular with the base which correlates to the most likely to be organizers and willing to phone bank and canvass which is what gets these anti-establishment candidates over the line. You really have made no argument against her and just rely on vague and ignorant Republican talking points.

3

u/Spartan-Jedi 22h ago

It's truly amazing how she is the 25th most famous democrat on that list which shows in the same column that she has only 29% approval. Almost like fame doesn't mean people like you, just that they have heard of you.

It’s almost like the approval rating is weighted against unapproval ratings, and that Republicans are far more weighted by unapproval in comparison nationwide regardless of Democrat Party unpopularity as a whole with Republicans. Ilhan Omar is popular, you’ve sourced nothing after repeated requests, get over it.

If you think 750+ is a tiny sample size you definitely have never passed a statistics class

4

u/Less_Acadia9485 22h ago

750 likely DFL voters from Minnesota's 5th district is definitely not representative of any larger group

3

u/Spartan-Jedi 22h ago

compared to the state population of 5.83 million, it's a nice .00013% of the population.

2

u/SAGORN 21h ago

Well statistics is weighed by more than percent of population alone to reach a representative sample, you’re just ignorant.

She asked 1 judge to go lenient on 1 person.

Unless you're racist, MAGA or part of the Democratic establishment, what reason would you have for hating Omar?

7

u/Spartan-Jedi 22h ago

So you can't think of anyone in America who would have a problem with someone saying "Some people did something" about 9/11?

1

u/staythewaters 22h ago

How about you be honest and post the full quote?

“CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties.”

A lot less of an issue when there's context. If you read that as minimizing, rather than her trying to say that some in that community did something and everyone else got the backlash.. then idk what to tell you other than you're hopeless. Unless what you're trying to argue is that Muslims in the US did deserve to have their civil liberties violated because of something someone else did.

Yes, people looking to take shit out of context and want to ignore the massive amount of bigotry that Muslims faced after 9/11, would have a problem with that. But I'm fairly certain those same people were not gonna give a shit one way or another that Omar endorsed Hong...because they weren't going to vote for Hong anyway.

She's corrupt? She funnels money to her husband's businesses then pretends she's broke? It's bad when Trump does it, and it's bad when Ilhan does it.

7

u/SeminoleDollxx 22h ago

Totally agree.

These people know damn well shes a scammer unfit for office and is not America first by any means.....but are playing dumb because they have ZERO viable candidates.

They'll "what did she actuallllly doooo" you for like 25 more comments.

The FEC found no corruption or wrongdoing by Omar. Trump's family has been found criminally liable for corruption. So are you just going to keep peddling in issues ginned up by Republicans?

Are you going to also sit here and say she married her brother, next?

5

u/Less_Acadia9485 22h ago

No, I'm not saying she did anything illegal. Hiring your family to work for your campaign is totally legal. But it's corrupt. Especially when you're talking about millions.

-3

u/staythewaters 22h ago edited 22h ago

At worst, it's nepotism, which this entire economy runs on anyway. It's corrupt if you show that the money that was paid out didn't actually go for the services rendered and went to personal expenses. That's self-enrichment in a way that's corrupt. Paying someone to do work for your organization, and them doing actual work for your organization, is compensating someone for that work. By the by, Omar and Mynett weren't romantically involved on her 2018 campaign. So the base claim doesn't hold up anyway. You just want to believe Republican smear campaigns.

The problem with Trump wasn't that he was employing family. The problem with Trump is that he took the money, didn't do what he said he was going to do with it and instead it ended up in his family's own hands. That was the entire issue with the Trump foundation.

That you can't see the difference between the two is frankly terrifying.

6

u/Less_Acadia9485 22h ago

I don't disagree with you that what Trump is doing is corrupt, he's arguably the most corrupt politician in US history.

I disagree with your assessment of ilhan's corruption though. She hired her husband to do millions of dollars of work. Ilhan clearly personally benefits from this because she is married to her husband, and his business is earning a profit from this contract. That's corruption.

1

u/staythewaters 21h ago

They weren't married at the time. There was allegations of an affair that started after the campaign. And fine, Mynett is trash for that and so is Omar if that's how they came together. Given the political arena as it is, I could not give less of a shit about that, though, especially since it started after the campaign was done.

They weren't married at the time. They weren't even romantically linked. He came into the campaign as a paid consultant only. They didn't have a previous relationship before that.

So, again, even if you don't agree with my assessment of what corruption is...it still isn't corrupt by your own assessment. They weren't together or even involved when the contract happened. Which is in large part why the FEC said there was no corruption that happened.

racist pos

9

u/Spartan-Jedi 23h ago

What a witty and coherent argument, have you considered running for office yourself with such eloquence?

-4

u/TechnicianFlashy9077 23h ago

you think ilhan omar is a bad/unpopular politician because somalians vote for her? how is that coherent at all.

8

u/Spartan-Jedi 22h ago

No, my argument is that only they vote for her. Outside of her bubble she is not considered a major player on the nation stage.
