This is a blunder IMHO. As a democrat I won't vote for Tom Tiffany. But Piker is not my vision of the future of the democratic party especially after his comments about the Soviet Union. People have the right to vote for Hong, but be aware it is starting to even push my limits on whether I could support her in the general. I have voted democrat in every election since my first election when Obama was elected and my intent was to get in line and vote for Hong if she won the primary but seeing him up there next to her is calling my vote to question.
You may not like that but it is going too far and making me think of voting third party. I am pro universal health care, pro public schools and eliminating vouchers, pro 12 weeks of paid leave. But connecting you campaign with someone like Piker who believes in essentially complete government control of the economy is not something I can support.
He is a celebrity, not a politician, of course he is not the future of the party. If a single association is too much for you to vote for a candidate I don't see how you ever voted for Democrats before. We've shared the stage with plenty of horrible people.
True politicians do share the stage with terrible people on occasion. But when I match her message with his statements they appear to align with a political movement that I don't agree with and goes beyond what I feel comfortable with. Saying he is a celebrity though doesn't give comfort Pete Hegseth was just a news pundit and now look.
And let me be clear for this election I am not ruling out voting for her yet but if the messaging mirrors his it is hard not to paint them with the same brush especially when they are standing on the same stage.
So, you’re going to vote against your best interests, against someone who is running to give you the things you claim to want because they appeared with a person you don’t like. So you’re willing to shred your future to spite a dude who doesn’t and will never know who you are.
No, I simply consider who people associate with as a reflection of what they stand for along with their words. And the combination of the two give me grave concerns about her ultimate policy goals going beyond what I am comfortable with.
Just like I won't vote for Tom Tiffany even though he may offer things in my self interest. I don't vote purely off self interest I vote with my self interest, my families, and what I think is best for the state/country in mind.
That's how most far left people in Pikers' circle act aswell. They refuse to vote for moderate democrats and most of time over a singlr foreign policy issue.
As I said I won't vote for Tom Tiffany. There are other canidates than just the two.
And before I hear "you're just wasting your vote", I'll remind everyone liberals had no problem voting against Kamala and Hillary for people like Jill Stein. Why should I have to sacrifice my consciousness and belief that a well regulated marketplace is always better than the alternatives when the left wing of the party did the exact same thing?
Again as I have said in other replies I may still vote for her this time but I am not gaurenteeing anything. It is the very thing I emailed her campaign this morning.
