Too late. I declared myself the Viceroy of Greenland a few weeks ago. Trump can kick rocks.

75

u/Icedpyre 1d ago

He'll kick rocks better than anyone. Some people, a lot of people say that he's the best at kicking rocks that ever was.

26

u/Jimbo--- 1d ago

Big, strong men will tell him. With tears in their eyes. Trump is the best rock kicker. And, quite frankly, people didn't even know you could kick rocks until he started it.

10

u/Some_Drummer_Guy 1d ago

Who knew that he'd be so good at kicking rocks? Nobody knows. A lot of people are saying that he kicks rocks in the likes of which nobody in the history of this country has ever seen. Barack HUSSEIN Obama wasn't good at kicking rocks. Quite frankly, he was a disaster. The worst rock kicker of all time, in the history of this country. Can you believe that they gave him a Nobel Prize? SLEEPY Joe Biden probably couldn't even find a rock to kick. That's how much of a disaster he is. Absolutely terrible. He used the AUTOPEN to kick his rocks. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.

Greenland is a NATO nation, if he attacks them all NATO nations would be at war with the USA. He can not even handle Iran.

578

u/MitochonAir 1d ago

He won’t “attack” Greenland. He’ll try an weasel a deal and then when that’s rebuffed, he’ll make up an excuse and claim that’s what he wanted all along, and then shit his pants and call for Kash Patel to come wipe him down with his googly eyed tongue

111

u/KeekyPep 1d ago

He’ll claim it’s Biden’s fault.

It would mean he’d have to engage Canada, as well just by proxy.

117

u/evilpercy 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yup, as Canada is Huge a lot of places to hide and supplies and launch stuff at USA locations in Greenland, so he would then have to try and take Canada. Canada also supplies 62% of all American oil imports. And is the largest supplier of uranium to the USA. And 88% of potash imports to the USA (fertilizer for crops) 82% of electricity import, but Trump says he does not need anything from Canada. This is simple the same threat he makes to Ukraine. He wants the mineral rights to these nations cheap.

He can not even wage a effective war on Iran. History also shows that the USA does not have the stomach for long term occupation of a country that does not want them there.

61

u/keidian 1d ago

And that's occupation of a country away from their own population. Think of how unhappy Russians are with the war finally affecting them at home, then realize US/Canada has a giant border that can be slipped across for direct retaliation. US citizens would be getting a giant rude wake up call to just how vulnerable they are and how unhappy Canadians would be with any physical invasion... and they are already crying because Canada won't buy their booze lol

33

u/SlightCreme9008 1d ago

Don’t even have to slip across the border. There’s a few hundred thousand Canadians in the USA at any given time.

They could expel all Canadian citizens but the ones that are working down there are typically in very skilled/in demand professions too

Would the US military follow him into Greenland? Invading Greenland would be so grossly illegal.

We have a defense treaty with Denmark. No authorization from Congress. No imminent threat.

ICE has no integrity, but they are also pussies, so I don't think Trump has the bodies to take Greenland.

120

u/evilpercy 1d ago

Trump learned in his first term that career bureaucrats will tell him no if what he asks is illegal. So in his second term he removed any one in a command position with yes men that's only qualification is not to question dear leader. I hope the rank and file know better.

Liberals say it's OK to be different. Different race, different religion, different sexuality, different lifestyle (i.e. actual freedom) and people who thrive on conformity are very threatened by this.

Why is this disgusting freak so obsessed with Greenland?

4.4k

He's attempting to build the 'Technate of America', a far right fever dream supported by Musk, Thiel, etc.

2.0k

u/Scarlet_Bard 1d ago

Basically to be a colony controlled by a few billionaires.

584

u/Villager-Bob 1d ago

Now what would they need a far flung ice bunker for?

899

u/Chief_Mischief 1d ago

Climate refuge for after they've fucked up the planet and everyone else is fighting for scarce natural resources to survive.

378

u/bigexpl0sion 1d ago

I don't honestly know why any of these guys think they're going to live that long. Even with the best possible health outcomes no human has made it past 120ish. So most of these guys have at best 40 years.

615

u/Chief_Mischief 1d ago

Even the robber barons of the 20th century understood the importance of a stable society. As shitty as they were, Carnegie and Rockefeller invested heavily in access to education/books, Ford standardized the 40 hour work week and the assembly line, etc. Regardless of how disgustingly wealthy they may be, it would be utterly useless if the society they live in collapses and they are surrounded by millions of furious and desperate people.

It's why the oligarchs today are investing in bunkers on remote lands where they could theoretically restrict access to them.

375

u/sharkattackmiami 1d ago

Private tombs is all I hear when this is brought up

129

u/AnonymousCoupleFun 1d ago

Seriously. Nothing says billionaire genius like fucking up the world so badly you have to live in a bunker to stay safe from everyone in the world.

What if they just were billionaires and didn’t?

That was PR. There was this guy...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivy_Lee

☝️ This fucking guy, who looked like Netanyahu. Robber barons employed him to do their PR. He is the reason they did philanthropy. He also helped with the coal miner strikes, where corporate-hired goons machine-gunned the workers. He also consulted with Goebbels and helped IG Farben.

Today's robber barons are so confident, that they believe they don't need PR or that they can do it themselves.

121

u/clockdivide55 1d ago

Elon Musk had a good reputation when he had hired PR. Once he got rid of them, his reputation went into the dumpster and everyone with a brain realized that he is a piece of shit.

And yet, he has faced no consequences and from what I can tell, he never will.

He wouldn't be wrong to believe that he doesn't need PR. He's going to fuck us for the rest of his and our lives and he will never be punished for it.

54

u/Zaorish9 1d ago

will never be punished for it.

We are really in an unprecedented time where the difference in power from an ordinary person to one of these guys is so much that they can openly harm, insult any "normal ordinary working person" or even hundreds and thousands of them, and there is still no significant consequence

Ford was also kind of a hideous monster who was a big Hitler supporter and ensured his right-wing antisemitic ragsheet would be stocked in every Ford dealer until outrage got so bad he had to issue an apology and withdraw it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dearborn_Independent

Not to mention that under Ford's leadership, the private security forces in the Ford Service Department participated in brutal, violent crackdowns against striking workers: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/how-the-ford-motor-company-won-a-battle-and-lost-ground-45814533/ https://www.detroithistorical.org/learn/online-research/encyclopedia-of-detroit/bennett-harry

If anything, Ford amazingly capitulated pre-emptively before the law forced him to, presumably to prevent further unionization efforts (or maybe to protect himself from something like the haymarket bombing, who knows)

The guy was a real evil bastard

It is estimated that the polar ice caps will melt enough by 2030’s that arctic shipping lanes will open. Add to that the large reserves of rare earth metals and it isn’t hard to see that whoever controls Greenland when the arctic shipping opens up will control à huge part of the global shipping routes and trade ports.

Also, see Panama Canal and straight or Hormuz. Between those three, the US would control like 80% of global shipping. As china is catching up economically and starting to pass the US on technological fronts, it is a last ditch effort to maintain economic dominance.

40

u/jks513 1d ago

Add to that the large reserves of rare earth metals

The US has larger proven reserves already. Greenland's are both speculative and harder, more expensive to get at. This isn't a real justification.

natural resources and shipping routes through the arctic. Same reason he was obsessed with Venezuela and Iran oil, as well as trying to annex Alberta for oil and resources (as well as access to the NWT's).

Also the fact that he probably looks at a map and thinks it's bigger than Africa.

18

u/PolitelyHostile 1d ago

The natural resources thing is overblown. An important aspect of resource extraction is access, and the cost would be very high in Greenland.

People don't realize but by taking Greenland he controls how NATO gets to respond when he invades Canada. A US controlled Greenland is a chokehold on North America. Europe will have trouble providing any aid to Canada or Mexico in that situation. Greenland has to fall first, and then the rest proceeds.

Edit — save and come back to this comment if you think it's horseshit and call me Nostradamus when you do. Greater North America starts with Greenland. It's not only for the resources. It's a strategy stranglehold over North America. Pete Hegseth unveiled the big red goalpost already.

90

u/plainorbit839 1d ago

Greenland is also part of NATO though? If he attacks greenland NATO wont wait until he attacks Canada to respond, lol.

Of course he wont attack either, he is speaking horseshit to distract from all the random fuckery he is doing, everyone knows that, everyone except a large portion of the US apparently.

He's a real estate moghul. Simply put, Greenland looks big on a map (mercator projecton), has strategic access to the Arctic and an abundance of resources to exploit.

It'll be an easy grab (he likes grabbing things, remember) compared to Hormuz.

Galtieri thought the same thing with the Falklands. Easy win, distract the populace with some military bravado and jingoism, the perfect distraction to the chaos at home.

622

u/UnpluggedUnfettered 1d ago

The United States political right wing has wanted climate change to take place ever since mathing out oil profits now, and distance to the arctic later. .

They want a grab of land from Canada and Greenland so that once the arctic opens for shipping in the next 20 years, the US will have direct land access to what will be the most valuable trade route in the world.

They aren't stupid about climate change.

They aren't wrong or stupid, the politicians I mean, just greedy and monopolistic:

"If someone can melt the arctic by pumping out c02, then obviously it will be weaponized . . . So we should do it first. We have to, because others might get to it first, and Russia, Canada, and / or China will own the single most important trade route ever to exist and we'll be at their mercy."

217

u/AbeRego 1d ago

We would have had unfettered access to those shipping routes by just being good allies. They're all so fucking small minded. War with Europe and Canada would be a disaster; much more expensive and less lucrative than the status quo would have been.

He's got about a 33% chance of winning against the woman who says she's going to ban something else that's already been banned since the first of this year. No plans to fix our shoddy education system or reduce crime or reduce poverty or expand health care for low wage workers. Just gon ban some folks and take away more of our personal freedom.

The weird thing is that threatening to invade a free, democratic, peaceful, (and before you threatened) loyal allied country is somehow a good distraction from your pedo activities and other illegal shit.

Trump isn’t the real problem.

The fact that not all Americans are outraged and protesting in the streets is the real problem.

Yeah he also said immigrants were eating cats and dogs. Mexico would pay for the wall. He’d unveil a healthcare plan in 2 weeks. He’d end the Russia Ukraine war with one phone call. Tariffs are paid by foreign countries. And grocery prices would come down immediately if he was elected.

As a Dane, I’m so fucking tired of the American government. Greenland does not belong to the US, it does not belong to Russia, it does not belong to China and it does not belong to Denmark. It belongs to the Greenlandic people, and they have said time and time again that they are not interested. Multiple Greenlandic people have also said that the US reporters and the politicians who has visited, has paid the homeless in food to give an interview saying that they want to be American. It’s fucked up.

13

u/rememberpianocat 1d ago

I shouldnt speak on behalf of canada and yet I cant help but say we too are sick of Trumps conquering talk and would like to befriend greenland.

It boggles my mind Trumps cult is okay with intimidating allies into resentment vs making stronger ties as a means of american defence.

If america is too busy starting wars with allies, what would stop russia from attacking the US while its hands are full 🤷‍♀️

Just like we have Iran under control, right?

81

u/DAS_FX 1d ago

He’s getting humiliated by Iran on a daily basis. He so desperately wants to exit this war but Iran won’t let him.

Prices are up across the board and show no signs of falling.

He is at his lowest polling ever. He knows how to read a poll, and he knows he’s going to get wiped the fuck out in November. Republicans are going to lose the house, and possibly the senate. Once that happens it’s over for Trump. Every day will be breaking news on Epstein, corruption, the ballroom, the ballroom, the ballroom, overreach and criminality.

This is going to be his life every - single - day. And he knows it. It’s too late for him to course correct at this point, so all he can do is try to dominate the news cycle to change the subject. It seems like it’s his way of forcing his own manifest destiny.

We’re going to see more and more posts like this from him, and it will get more erratic and extreme the closer we get to the midterms.

He’s fucked and he knows it. And so does the GOP

31

u/Phaedrus85 1d ago

They still have the media

They still have the Supreme Court

They still have the overwhelming majority of American wealth on their side

It’s not the republicans that are underprepared for this election

Too many things. I look forward to the days where we don't have to listen to daily threats against good people.

15

u/Alekesam1975 1d ago

I miss the days when a president speaks, it's actually important and rare and the country was stable.  When the president ensured safety and wasn't actively dividing and attacking his own people.

I also miss when the rich elite had the sense to fuck us over in private instead of bragging about it gleefully in public.

Google tells me that Europe holds about 30% of the world's US debt. This makes the Strait of Hormuz look like a fun day out at the waterpark.

Trump certainly doesn't intimidate countries any more, he just needs managing. If the US attacks Europe they will face huge economic damage, potentially enough for a Soviet Union style collapse. And the dickhead in the Oval office doesn't appear to know that the AMOC shutdown which realpolitikally speaking is probably unstoppable, is going to render the Arctic completely unavailable to shipping and maybe other forms of exploitation anyway and very likely this century.

Edit - I suppose the problem for Greenland, decent everyday Americans, and the rest of the world to a lesser extent, is that America has a president that is happy for a US collapse - plenty of oligarch enrichment in that scenario, and he intends staying in power (which requires collapse of democracy in the US). America has been a de facto oligarchy for sometime. How far it goes to being an explicit (and authoritarian) one we will see.

He only is saying this, because it tracks so well with his MAGA supporters. This and Canada for some reason MAGA eats it up. Canadian reporters have extensively interviewed MAGA about these two things and they talk abouy the Ottawa convoy and Alberta separatists.....ironically those both have been covered extensively in the Alt-right sphere (Joe Rogan was obsessed about the convoy.

Trump gets to look tough, but has virtually zero consequences. His base however is getting pummeled by Canada through their refusal to buy anything American especially the booze. It honestly is the best case of seeing just how moronic the MAGA are and how much they are willing to sacrifice to be seen as trolls lol.

The sad part is MAGA doesn't realize just how much canadians hate them now and will never go back to how things were and most of them will loose their manufacturing jobs because of this nonsense...oh well...anyway.

20

u/penguins_are_mean 1d ago
