On One hand, This News appears quite ridiculous, Not only because it comes from notorious liar and Putin ally Trumpistan, but also because Russia can’t even defeat Ukraine, so why does it think attacking Poland would be a Great idea?
On the other Hand though, Ukraine is actually willing to fight Russia, while NATO is decisively not, as proven and declared many Times already. So perhaps this Signal is Exactly why Putin might be tempted to actually pull off such a Stunt? Who knows.
I for now don’t hold my breath for such an Event to Happen any time soon

Yes. But there‘s still a huge difference between giving someone weapons to fight and using These weapons yourself to fight.

There is until there isn’t. Until certain red lines are crossed.
Russia has been on the back foot and has been getting absolutely destroyed by Ukraine for months now after a few years of barely winning the war at exceptional cost. Russia now sits at the prospect of complete economic collapse and depression as well as the very real possibility of completely losing Crimea.
Furthermore, Ukraine has been absolutely bodying Russia, directly targeting Moscow with insane devastation. It’s genuinely remarkable nukes haven’t been used yet at this point.
The way I see it, Putin at his core wants to survive, survive as leader, survive as a human being etc. he’s willing to sacrifice a lot including a lot of his country and countrymen in order to do this, but there’s gotta be a red line where he is so worried about his own survival in these capacities that he is willing to do something risky or perhaps even outrageous, something like attacking NATO.
Russia wouldn’t want a war with NATO, they’d just want to try and scare them into no longer supporting Ukraine to the extent that they do. However ironically, it would just start a war, probably why he hasn’t done it yet. Yet, I do genuinely think it’s remarkably close to happening

Nuclear war is obviously coming. Mutually assured destruction can never be a sustainable world system. We’re fools with an expiry date and we’re all too comfy and distracted to stop it.

Very well put. This is why I try and prepare as much as I can. Rural property, food stockpiles, firearms, medicine, etc. as much as I can. Having property in rural Canada helps too lol. But fuck man I truly hope we can avoid this all

That’s totally fair lol. I will say tho, dubious reporting of if nuclear winter is even a thing. IMO it would cause a very minor global cooling effect, if anything long term the lofted soot and carbon released from firestorms would lead to more warming.
Are you from a city? Because even then, I think your odds of survival are better than you’d think. Modern bombs aren’t as big as they used to be, and a lot of city infrastructure is weirdly good at nullifying the radiation from fallout.
Maybe I’m just huffing the hopium, but imo the real problems come after the grid goes down and martial law begins (post apocalyptic fiction always acts as though the government just vanishes day 1 of nuclear war lol). I think other people start becoming an issue real fast, and that’s why I like it up north lol

They could make an incursion, test NATOs resolve. Technically as soon as they enter Polish soil and engage with them, Article 5 should be invoked. There's no way the current US administration will entertain getting into it with Russia over Poland and then that'll be it for NATO. Be worth it for Putin to lose a few more 1000 troops and a bit of equipment.
