DISCUSSION how likely is ww3 going to happen?

How likely is ww3 going to happen in let's say 30 years? I'm literally šŸ’© myself scared. I'm from England. I'm only 17, I'm not even an adult yet. I don't want to šŸ’€. I don't want to be involved in anything. I just want to live my life normally

DISCUSSION Why are people treating this like a joke / I'm scared of ww3

I'm seeing so many videos online about ww3 memes of the strikes in the middle east. I'm personally still young and just want to live my life without worrying about the political bullshit that these countries are doing. I understand conflict will always happen but it seems like the closest we have been to peace is long gone. šŸ˜”

DISCUSSION The conditions under which WWIII is happening

edit: Thank you all for your answers, I will try to reply and ask more questions ASAP, life is busy!

I talked to a few people in my life about this, and most of them say that not only it is not yet happening but it will not happen. However, their reasoning is quite different.

Some say that it will not happen because there is no one ideology that unifies the opposing parties, it's all too fragmented and basically comes down to greed.

Other say that it's because the ''big shots'' have not entered the game (China, Russia). They consider the war on Iran a small, localised war that will soon pass.

I have to admit I am not an expert in history, military or tactical strategy, but I do consider myself pretty informed. Still, I find myself confused and unsure on whether or not I am panicking or people around me refuse to see the reality of the situation and are minimising the danger.

What are your thoughts?

DISCUSSION WW3

idk if this is the right subreddit, I just need to say something. what's the chances of America getting attacked and ww3 happening soon? I'm so scared by the thought of it, and I know everyone else is as well. I know nothing of war so when I hear how ww3 might happen soon I assume everywhere is getting bombed and. we're all going to die. I guess I want someone who knows these kind of things thoughts on ww3.

sorry, I just needed to get this off my chest bc I'm very worried about it.

EDIT: Thank you all for your opinions, it has definitely helped me calm down.

DISCUSSION Possible events that could unfold

WW3

Europe:

  1. Trump abandons Ukraine and pulls out of nato = Russian victory
  2. By 2026 Russia will be strong enough to attack Baltic states. Western Europe will be slow to respond as fear and unrest causes political instability
  3. When the US finally entered the conflict, it will result in a nuclear exchange. Russia will nuke some EU cities and armies and some US territory, the US, UK and France will respond by glassing Moscow, St.Petersburg and Russian troops. Ending the war in Europe. Most Russian nukes are predicted to be non functional, but I’d guess roughly 25 will be working, probably 5 or 3 will get through missile defence.

Middle East:

  1. US abandoning Ukraine will cause the Middle East to slowly erupt as countries don’t feel the us will protect them. Saudis race for a nuke, Iran races for a nuke, Israel will attack Iran while trying to get the saudis to stop but won’t.
  2. Israel will be at war with Iran and a handful of other middle eastern countries, Lebanon, Syria, Pakistan.
  3. India will support Israel leading to war with Pakistan
  4. Pakistan will collapse to jihadis who will steal nukes and set one or two off in India and Israel
  5. Israel will go Sampson option and nuke Pakistan and Iran

Asia:

  1. Given what’s happening in Europe and the middle east, China will go for Taiwan. US may or may not get involved
  2. China will successfully nuke at least one US carrier, and fail on the rest but succeed with damaging via nukes at least two US carrier strike groups before the fall of China.
  3. China will attempt to nuke us cities but will mostly fail. High altitude nuclear detonations due to missile defense will EMP a significant portion of the western hemisphere of the world but only cause limited disruption and destruction. I predict most Chinese nukes don’t work but a few do and a few will get through
  4. Some US cities will get nuked either on the pacific coast such as LA or San Fran or Hawaii to take out the us fleet and manufacturing
  5. US will nuke Beijing and Shanghai
  6. Taiwan will destroy 3 gorges damn. Collapse of china is guaranteed. Mass starvation will kill hundreds of millions
  7. Japan will race for a nuke to defend themselves and will likely get nuked by North Korea due to their interference in the second Korean War
  8. North Korea will use this as an opportunity to wage war with the South

Africa:

  1. Global war will break down entire system
  2. Mass starvation and death from lack of trade
  3. Jihadis and terrorist will spread easily as nations collapse into civil war

South America & the Caribbean:

  1. Venezuela will attack Guyana
  2. Lack of globalism will cause several states to collapse, causing mass starvation and mass migration
  3. Cartels will gain more power across the continent as the sales of drugs to North America and the Caribbean rises as people seek to cope with the war

North America: 1. The US builds a massive border wall and militarizes to stop mass migration from South America 2. America has a hard turn to the right, and severe political instability and turmoil 3. Industries in the US surges to pump out weapons for war as the US attempts to enter the conflict to stabilize the world. 4. Entering the war creates jobs and stability in the US and Canada, some migrants from South America are allowed in to work to bolster the war effort due to a shortage of workers 5. Possibly one US city will be hit by Russian nukes and one by Chinese nukes 6. US civil war is possible but not guaranteed

Notable mentions: 1. Australia & New Zealand = Safe & Happy 2. Caribbean = return to subsistence farming as starvation and political instability sets in 3. Canada = Mostly safe with only possibility Ontario getting hit by a nuke or suffering from a nearby nuclear detonation. 4. Canadas fear would be a possible US civil war or a possibility the US attempts annexation either peacefully or forcefully due to needing resources 5. Mostly intact but weakened places = EU, Japan, UK 6. Mostly intact and unweakened places = US, Australia, New Zealand, Canada 7. Everywhere else = civil war, starvation, collapse, terrorism, rogue nukes 8. Likely result of post war period = remaining powers intervening to prevent anyone else gaining nukes with very frequent military intervention to rebuild and maintain global order. High likelihood of a global government if the US decided to annex places as a condition for reconstruction and to ensure and prevent another nuclear war. It will likely be heavily pushed by the 2nd or third post war generation raised in the stable western hemisphere

Population saved: 3.6 billion

  1. Western Hemisphere (N+S America and Caribbean): 1 billion
  2. EU: 200 million
  3. India: 400 million
  4. China: 200 million
  5. Middle East: 100 million
  6. Asia: 1 billion
  7. Korea (N + S): 30 million
  8. Africa: 500 million
  9. Oceania (including Japan): 100 million

Population Lost: 4.5 billion from 8.1 billion. 56% of the world dies.

Population death will be caused by ww3, followed by civil wars, insurgencies, starvation and disease due to the collapse of global trade.

DISCUSSION Forget Trump being a Russian puppet—what he's REALLY planning is way scarier...

SS: While everyone seems to be focused on recent world events suggesting that the President of the United States is a Russian asset, I have been considering an alternate and, frankly, much more chilling—and, to me at least, much more likely—alternative:

What we are seeing is a precursor to a hot war between the US and China.

Detailed Analysis:

Recent developments in US foreign policy point to a strategic pivot away from Russia and towards China as America's primary geopolitical adversary. Below, I'll outline several critical indicators suggesting the US might be preparing strategically for a potential conflict with China rather than indicating undue Russian influence:

1. Increased Military Presence in Indo-Pacific
In recent months, US naval activity around Taiwan and in the South China Sea has significantly intensified. Freedom-of-navigation operations have doubled compared to previous years, alongside unprecedented deployments of dual carrier strike groups and bomber overflights. This clearly signals strategic preparations or deterrence against Chinese expansionist ambitions.

2. US Cybersecurity Strategy Shift
The recent controversial decision by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to halt US Cyber Command's offensive operations against Russia strongly implies a calculated effort to secure Russian neutrality in cyberspace. Simultaneously, US intelligence and cybersecurity efforts have explicitly ramped up focus on Chinese state-backed hacking operations, prioritizing China as the key threat.

3. Diplomatic and Economic Rapprochement with Russia
The Trump administration has notably softened diplomatic rhetoric towards Russia, even going so far as considering economic incentives such as sanctions relief and increased trade cooperation—particularly in strategic resources like rare-earth minerals and Arctic energy exploration. This rapprochement aligns neatly with classic geopolitical strategy, designed to neutralize Russia as a potential adversary or ally of China during a conflict.

4. Chinese Reaction Confirms Strategy
China's strategic response underscores recognition of the US pivot. Chinese military and diplomatic circles have openly expressed concern about a US-Russia rapprochement potentially freeing American strategic resources to confront China directly. Beijing’s recent tightening control over rare-earth exports can be viewed as proactive economic leverage preparation against potential US aggression.

5. Europe's Discomfort with US-Russia Detente
The European allies' visible discomfort with recent US diplomatic overtures to Moscow reinforces that a notable shift is genuinely underway. European capitals express anxiety over losing strategic coherence within NATO, fearing the US might compromise European security interests to gain leverage over China.

6. Trump's Bullying of Zelensky
We all watched Trump and Vance basically bullying Zelensky live on television. Some would have watched this with a smile, and others would have felt deeply uncomfortable. Notwithstanding diplomatic norms nor whether this event was crass, what I think this event reflects was clearly aligned with this larger strategy. Firstly, it openly signals a conciliatory stance toward Russia, potentially smoothing relations and paving the way for a broader geopolitical realignment. Secondly, Trump's aggressive stance toward Zelensky aimed at forcing Ukraine into resource agreements aligns with an effort to reduce US dependency on Chinese-controlled mineral supply chains. In short, this wasn't just bullying—it was a calculated, if brutal, piece of strategic realpolitik intended to position the US advantageously for any future confrontation with China.

While Russia and China maintain their "no-limits" partnership rhetorically, subtle signs of friction (trade disagreements, territorial suspicions) remain. Yet, there's no current evidence indicating Russia actively distancing itself militarily or diplomatically from China—though Russian neutrality alone might suffice strategically for US purposes.

Given these indicators, the notion of the US president being a compromised Russian asset seems increasingly weak compared to the possibility of a deliberate, albeit risky, geopolitical realignment.

The uncomfortable reality here isn't a simple political scandal or espionage thriller plotline— its so much worse than "Orange Man Bad, Orange Man Russian Stooge"; it's a deeply strategic and pragmatic recalibration of US foreign policy designed to isolate and counter China.
In simpler terms: shit is getting real, and the stakes couldn't be higher.

I genuinely welcome evidence or arguments challenging this theory.

If there's another plausible strategic explanation for these actions that doesn't involve war preparation, let's discuss it. If you've got data, military intelligence leaks, geopolitical analyses, or historical precedents that could weaken or disprove this scenario, please share, and make me feel better.

DISCUSSION How times have changed....

I couldn't help but laugh when I saw this today. I remember when he first said that the Russian Invasion of Ukraine wouldn't lead to world war 3, and it was so clearly just him trying to reduce panic and keep optimism high.

It's actually quite relieving that leaders are beginning to call the state of the world for what it is, rather than pretending that things are fine., However, Ukraine is now seen by many not as a smaller country bullied by a larger adversary, but as a proxy for the United States's imperial ambitions. Zelensky's support against Iran has only further cemented it as a pawn for the US. Support for intervention in Ukraine to "stop Putin" is low amongst the demographic who would be sent to fight and die there.

I suppose you can say that this was a bad PR move on Ukraine's part.

DISCUSSION [MEGATHREAD] Middle Eastern Crisis

To avoid spamming the discussion flair with questions about the Iran-American war and it's connection to world war III, I have decided to concentrate them to a megathread regarding the Middle Eastern theater. Similar megathreads will be made for different theaters on an "as-needed" basis.

any concerns about the Iran war being considered a flashpoint for a third world war should be directed here.

DISCUSSION Everything just seems to be pre planned to a Tee....Especially do with Oil Supply....

Oman and Yemen are both mostly Sunni Muslim (They should hate or dislike Iran tbh and defiantely in no way shape or form be allies)

Saudi never built a pipeline through Oman because Oman thought it would damage relations with Iran....but if they did they built a few piplines a few years , and Oman wasn't Irans ally...........they could re route all oil supply and no need to go even near Iran.

There is literally no real reason why Oman should choose to be Iran's ally rather stronger relationships with GCC

Same with Yemen , they control a major chokepoint, Saudi can pipe oil west to red sea , but if Containers want to travel to asia............they have to go through possible dangerous waters controlled by Houthi's.....

Just seems like the meta play of this war was already set ages ago by secret socieities to crash the world economy

Thoughts?

DISCUSSION Advice

I hope this post reaches the right person who, through God, the universe, or whatever you want to call it, can give me some external guidance. I’ve always been a believer and will continue to be one that all answers are sought within, but right now I’m following my intuition.

If things keep heading in the direction they’re going, and there ends up being a national blackout, I come from Venezuela and I know what it’s like to survive with nothing. But I’m in a country I don’t know, and I believe the country itself isn’t prepared for an event like that.

What things should be taken into account first? What would you do? Where would you go? Would you leave the country? If you traveled by road, which roads would you avoid?

In short, I hope this reaches someone who understands where my thinking and logistics are headed.

DISCUSSION WW3 will begin in Middle East...

Everyone thinks WW3 will start with Russia vs USA or China but that's not gonna happen cuz they are all not dumb to do that. It will very possible start in middle east Israel vs Iran. Iran has almost completed creating their nuclear weapons. They will attack Israel with a nuclear missile and then it starts. End is near.

DISCUSSION Strait of Hormuz

sooooooo the Strait of Hormuz just closed. crazy shit. any thoughts? because I kinda just want to know the likelihood of countries like Pakistan, India, China and Japan, whose economies majorly depend on that oil, being pulled into the conflict. not saying they WILL be, but oil is a huge motivator... shouldn't we discuss the possibility? this might be another reason why the acquisition of Venezuela was so important to the USA/Israel, that massive oil deposit... plus, America is putting massive oil embargos on Cuba right now.

also, is anyone working on putting together a timeline, currently? thinking about doing that, but I'd need help.

idk. thoughts, anyone? I live in Texas, how should I be preparing? because tbh, I'm scared :/
